Slammers continue to impress (Thursday night wrap)

The Collie Crane Hire South West Slammers picked up their second win of the season in a thrilling 103-100 double overtime win over the Mandurah Magic last night.

The Slammers held a two point lead in the fourth when Trent Worthington missed two freethrows with 21 seconds left. Mandurah import Taylor Mullenax then scored two points to tie the game up with just seconds remaining to send the game into overtime.

Mandurah looked set to take the win in the first overtime with a 90-84 advantage inside the last two minutes. Then a series of three point shots from Jamahr Warren, Wade Hitchcock and Worthington forced a second overtime with both teams deadlocked at 93-93.

Mullenax again tied the game up in the second overtime only for Slammers veteran Lee Smith to score two points to give the Slammers a 102-100 advantage, Harrelson then sealed the game making one of two free throws.

Jamahr Warren was the standout for the Slammers with 35 points, while Mullenax finished with 31 points and nine rebounds for the Magic.

League leaders Lakeside Lightning used a dominant fourth quarter to seal a 111-85 victory over the Southlands Boulevarde Willetton Tigers.
