Hawks, Lightning and Eagles look to continue strong start (Men's Week 4 Preview)

Perry Lakes, Lakeside and East Perth will be out to protect their unbeaten starts to the year when they take to the court for round four of the Men’s State Basketball League season.

Assistant Charles Nix will again take the reins at Perry Lakes with head coach Shawn Dennis away on NBL duties as the Perth Wildcats take on New Zealand in the grand final series.

The Hawks host reigning champions Cockburn, who finally found their groove and racked up their first win of the season with a triumph over Kalamunda last week.

East Perth are expecting a tough tussle against South West at Morley on Saturday following the Slammers’ morale-boosting double-overtime win over Mandurah last week.

Lakeside have to wait until Sunday to meet Perth Redbacks, who will have a day off between games after hosting Stirling on Friday night.

The Lightning will again look to league-leading rebounder Jarrad Prue to clean up on the boards after he averaged a whopping 20.5 rebounds over the first three weeks of the season.

On Saturday, Geraldton should improve their record at home to winless Kalamunda and Willetton are on the road to take on Goldfields.

Cockburn will have to back up after the Perry Lakes clash with a game against Wanneroo at home, while Mandurah host local rivals Rockingham on Sunday.

The key to the Magic’s hopes of beating the Flames is their ability to limit the impact of Cooper Land, who averages a league-best 32.7 points a game so far this season.
