The BOQ Redbacks’ Men’s State Basketball League team had a strong 119 to 89 home-game win over the Rockingham Flames.

The win sees them move five spots up the ladder from 9th to 4th in the 14-team competition with three wins and three losses.

Swing-man Bennie Lewis top-scored for the Redbacks with 33 along with six rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Centre Justin Brown was their next highest scorer with 28 along with 16 rebounds and five assists, while point-guard Joel Wagner scored 15 and had 10 assists and seven rebounds.

Power-forward Michael Vigor scored 13 and brought down 13 rebounds while forward Dennis Tawhiti scored 11.

The BOQ Redbacks’ women’s team lost their game against the Flames 62 to 72.

Point-guard Rachel Lisch was the Redbacks’ top-scorer with 24 along with 10 rebounds and four steals.

Centre Marita Payne had 12 along with five rebounds.

This followed on from her previous week's strong effort in which she was named the State Basketball League player of the round after scoring 34 while bringing down 33 rebounds over two games.

Tarsha Fletcher was the Redback's next highest scorer with nine along with two assists and two steals.

The Redbacks’ women now have one win and four losses and are in 11th place in the 12-team competition.

The Redbacks’ men go on a road-trip this Saturday for their away-game against the Geraldton Buccaneers at the Active West Stadium in Wonthella at 7.30PM, while the Redbacks’ women’s team has a bye.
