Tigers move to top (Week Six Women's Wrap)

Willetton moved back to the top of the Women’s State Basketball League ladder with a pair of impressive wins in round six.

The Tigers kicked off the week with a thumping 60-36 win over struggling East Perth on Friday before smashing Cockburn 73-52 on Saturday.

West Coast Waves star Lisa Wallbutton starred with 19 points and 15 rebounds for the Tigers against the Eagles and backed up the performance with an even better one against the Cougars, registering 18 points and 18 rebounds.

Willetton’s return to the top came after South West handed Wanneroo a surprise home defeat, winning 73-64 at the Joondalup Basketball Stadium.

Kimberly Sitzmann was the star for the Slammers with 32 points and 12 rebounds in a standout performance.

2012 runners-up Rockingham continued their hot run of form with two victories, extending their streak to five successive wins.

The Flames beat Cockburn 79-72 on Friday night before accounting for Stirling 73-63.

Rockingham’s Samantha Whitcomb produced what is likely to be the biggest individual score of the season with 47 points and 11 rebounds against the Cougars.

And she backed it up with 21 points and 10 rebounds against the Senators in a game where Darcee Garbin registered 21 points and 19 rebounds.

South West Slammers beat Lakeside 63-53 on Friday night to move into fifth place, while Kalamunda jumped to fourth on the back of a 75-65 road win over Mandurah.
