Double-Trouble for Redbacks and Slammers (Women's Week 11 Preview)

Women’s State Basketball League title hopefuls can breathe easy this week with rampant Rockingham sidelined by a bye in round 11.

The Flames have broken clear at the top of the table with nine consecutive wins but will have to cool their heels on the sidelines for a week.

The schedule leaves the door open for Rockingham’s nearest rivals – Wanneroo and Willetton – to close the gap at the top.

The Wolves travel down to Eaton on Saturday to take on a South West team that will be backing up from a game away to Lakeside the previous night.

Meanwhile, the Tigers will start warm favourites against a Perth Redbacks team that sits outside the top eight following successive defeats in their past two games.

The Redbacks will also be backing up in a double-header after taking on Perry Lakes on Friday night.

East Perth have won just one game this season and are currently on a seven-game losing streak, but will hope to break through for their second win at home to Cockburn on Saturday.

The Cougars enter the game in relatively good form, having won three of their past four outings against lower-ranked opponents.

Fourth-placed Kalamunda will also look to close the gap on top side Rockingham when they host ninth-placed Stirling.

The Suns’ loss to the Flames last week ended their three-game winning streak and they will no doubt be eager to bounce back at home against the Senators.
