Road doubles for Slammers, Senators (Friday Night Wrap)

The Stirling Senators and South West Slammers both recorded women's and men's road SBL victories over the Rockingham Flames and Mandurah Magic on Friday night to open Week 12 action.

The Stirling Senators men's line-up beat the Rockingham Flames 94-78 at Mike Barnett Sports Complex for just their fourth win of the 2013 season in their 15th match.

Cory Cooperwood starred for the Senators with 31 points and 11 rebounds while Josh Throns added 18 points and seven boards. Jordan Wild also contributed 15 points, 16 boards and five assists for Stirling with Nikolas Iliadis finishing with 12 points, five assists and four rebounds.

Cooper Land top-scored for Rockingham with 20 points with Steven Bennett adding 16 points, Brendan Della Maddalena 15 and Travis Moore 15.

The South West Slammers improved its season record to 9-7 with a 101-81 win over the Mandurah Magic at Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre.

Ty Harrelson continued to lead the way for the Slammers with 22 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists with Jamahr Warren and Clive Weeden both putting up 21 points. Wade Hitchcock also scored 15 points and Trent Worthington nine to go with 12 rebounds and four assists.

Rhett Della Maddalena had a big night for the Magic scoring 28 points and pulling in 12 rebounds. Taylor Mullenax added 18 points and 11 boards with Andrew Bowman scoring 12 points and dishing out seven assists.

The South West Slammers women's team thumped the Mandurah Magic 86-57 dominating after quarter-time in Mandurah to improve to a 6-8 record on the season.

Kimberly Sitzmann top-scored for South West with 22 points while also pulling in nine rebounds and dishing out seven assists. Donnell Wallam added 19 points, Kara Hargreaves 13, Dannielle Smith 10 and Lauren Jeffers 10.

Casey Mihovilovich had a big night for Mandurah with 24 points, 16 rebounds, four assists and four steals with Hannah Knight also scoring 10 points.

The Stirling Senators won the night's close game downing the Rockingham Flames 82-78 thanks to a 27-17 final quarter in Rockingham.

Amber Land finished with 29 points, 11 rebounds and five assists for the Senators with Tegan Walker adding 21 points, Taylor Lilley 12 and Lyndal Gardner 10.

Samantha Whitcomb hit 23 points to go with 10 rebounds and five assists for the Flames with Jacinta Bourne scoring 16 points and Kaye Tucker 18 to go with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
