Week Thirteen 'Kickz101 Perth' Newcomers of the Week

Stirling Senators young gun Joshua Throns has taken out the Week Thirteen ‘Kickz101 Perth’ Men’s Newcomer of the Week award.

For anyone who has seen Throns take the court for Stirling this year it is hard to believe he is just a nineteen-year-old SBL rookie.

Averaging 15.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game this season, opposition coaches will now be scouting Throns as one of the dangerous offensive weapons in the Stirling line-up.

Throns put on a stellar shooting display on Saturday night as Stirling took on the highly ranked East Perth at the Morley Rec Centre knocking down 20 points which included five three’s from beyond the arc to go with 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 3 blocks as the Senators caused an upset win 98-91.

Perry Lakes Hawks own Sarah Donovan has been awarded the Week Thirteen ‘Kickz101 Perth’ Women’s Newcomer of the Week after a stellar performance over the weekend.

Hawks fans would have been nervous on Friday night after the news that Australian Opal and West Coast Waves star Natalie Burton was unavailable for the game, that is until Sarah Donovan stepped up to put together a dominate performance for the Hawks.

Donovan was exceptional recording 12 points, 16 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 blocks as the Hawks thrashed the second placed Rockingham Flames 87-51 and solidified their spot in the top eight.

At just nineteen years of age, 187cm Donovan will thrive under the guidance of experienced coach CJ Jackson and continue to develop into an elite player of the SBL.

Throns and Donovan are now in contention for the monthly award where the winner of a facebook poll receives a pair of shoes of their choice thanks to Kickz101 Perth.
