Top WSBL spots go on the line (Week 14 Women's Preview)

Positions at the top of the women's SBL table go on the line during Week 14 action starting with two big Friday night games between Perry Lakes and Kalamunda, and Willetton and Wanneroo.

There are two games on Friday night with both featuring teams inside the top-six positions on the table.

The sixth-placed Perry Lakes Hawks take on the fourth-placed Kalamunda Eastern Suns at the WA Basketball Centre while the Willetton Tigers host the Wanneroo Wolves at Willetton Basketball Stadium.

The 7-6 Hawks had a terrific weekend in Week 13 action with wins over the Rockingham Flames and Mandurah Magic, and will now be looking to continue the momentum while the Suns are also in form having beaten Willetton last weekend, but Kalamunda is just 2-4 on the road.

The Tigers are looking to bounce back from last week's loss to Kalamunda while also trying to improve on their 4-3 home record for the season, but the top-of-the-table Wanneroo won't be making that an easy task.

There is then five big matches on Saturday night with Wanneroo hosting the Perth Redbacks, the Lakeside Lightning taking on Willetton, East Perth playing Perry Lakes, Cockburn facing South West, Stirling battling Mandurah and Kalamunda taking on Rockingham.

The Wolfpack backs up their Friday clash at Willetton to host the Redbacks at Joondalup Basketball Stadium with Perth facing a big task to keep in touch for a finals spot heading into the encounter on a 6-9 record.

The Lightning return to the Lakeside Recreation Centre to commemorate Jess van Schie's 200th game that she played in last week's big win away to the Cockburn Cougars.

Lakeside takes on Willetton who is also coming off a clash on Friday with the 7-7 Lightning needing to win to stay in touch for a finals berth.

The bottom-placed East Perth Eagles then look to notch their second win of the season hosting the Perry Lakes Hawks at Morley Sport and Recreation Centre. The Eagles will be hoping the Hawks are put through the wringer on Friday against Kalamunda.

The Cockburn Cougars are sitting in fifth position at present with a 9-7 record and host the 6-8 defending champion South West Slammers who remain battling in eighth spot on the table.

Stirling and Mandurah are currently out of the finals race with the 6-9 Senators hosting the 4-10 Magic at Warwick Leisure Centre, but Stirling can remain right in the hunt with a victory at home.

Kalamunda then puts its unbeaten record at home this season taking on the second-placed Rockingham Flames at Ray Owen Sports Centre. Both teams enter the weekend on a 10-4 record with the Suns having an 8-0 record at home.

However, Kalamunda does have a tough match with Perry Lakes on Friday while Rockingham will come into the clash fresh and raring to go.
