Crucial doubles for Tigers, Hawks (Friday Night Wrap)

The Willetton Tigers and Perry Lakes Hawks' women's and men's SBL teams both recorded impressive Friday night victories over Kalamunda and Wanneroo respectively to open Week 14 action.

Kalamunda tried to stick with Perry Lakes in the first half on Friday at the WA Basketball Centre with the Hawks leading by just 10 points at half-time, but from there the home side racked up 74 points to the Suns' 34 to end up with a massive 130-80 win.

Adrian Majstrovich had a night out for the Hawks with 30 points and 13 rebounds while Corey Easley added 22 points, Michael Lay 20, Ben Purser 13 and Rob Cassir 10.

The Suns obviously missed Australian Boomers centre Luke Nevill with Jake Withers scoring 14 points, Ben Smith 12 and Louis Timms 11 to go with 10 rebounds.

The Willetton Tigers recorded a crucial 111-94 win over the Wanneroo Wolves at Willetton Basketball Stadium with Quinn McDowell leading the way with 28 points, nine rebounds and six assists.

Brandon Adams also had 27 points and 18 boards for the Tigers with Jacob Reed adding 14 points and Kyle Armour 13.

Trian Iliadis worked tirelessly for the Wolves with 28 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Rob Huntington added 15 points, Seb Salinas 13 and Damian Matacz 13.

The Willetton Tigers women's team beat the Wanneroo Wolves 62-51 with Antonia Edmondson and Melissa Marsh both finishing with 18 points. Marsh also picked up eight rebounds. Lisa Wallbutton added 14 points and 18 rebounds for the Tigers as well.

Shani Amos hit 11 points to go with 10 rebounds for the Wolves with Casey Lockwood adding 10 points.

The Perry Lakes Hawks won a nail-biter against the Kalamunda Eastern Suns coming back from a nine-point half-time deficit to win by two.

Natalie Burton scored 20 points and pulled in 13 rebounds to go with four assists for the Hawks with Kate Anthony scoring 14 points and Belinda Mayger finishing with 13 points, 10 boards and seven assists.

Jennie Rintala hit 15 points to go with six boards for the Suns while Melissa Moyle hit 12 points and Sarah-Jane Knox pulled in 10 rebounds.
