Flames, Suns out to bounce back (Week 16 Women's Preview)

Third-placed Rockingham and fourth-placed Kalamunda are looking to bounce back from losses last week to consolidate their spots in Week 16 women's SBL action with the defending champions out to stay alive in the playoff hunt.

The Week 16 action in the SBL for the women begins on Friday night with three big matches with the Collie Crane Hire South West Slammers hosting the Kalamunda Eastern Suns, Rockingham Flames hosting the BOQ Perth Redbacks and the Toll Ipec Eagles taking on the Lakeside Lightning.

The action then continues on Saturday at midday with the Lakeside Lightning hosting the Perry Lakes Hawks at Lakeside Recreation Centre.

Then on Saturday night, the Wanneroo Wolves host the Rockingham Flames and the Southlands Boulevarde Willetton Tigers take on the Mandurah Magic.

The defending champion South West Slammers face a must-win clash to keep their finals hopes alive hosting the Kalamunda Eastern Suns on Friday night at Easton Recreation Centre.

The Slammers have won two of their last three games to be finding some form but the Suns have now lost three straight to slip to a 10-7 record so the fourth-placed Kalamunda won't want to drop another game.

Last year's grand finalists Rockingham also hosts the Perth Redbacks on Friday at Mike Barnett Sports Complex with the Flames looking to bounce back from last weekend's shock 51-point hammering at home at the hands of Willetton.

The Flames still sit in third spot on the table with an 11-5 record while the Redbacks are 7-10 and down in 10th despite a win last Saturday against the Eagles.

The in-form Lakeside Lightning take on the one-win East Perth Eagles in the last Friday night game at Morley Sport and Recreation Centre with the Lightning looking to extend their four-game winning run.

The Lightning then have a short turnaround to take on the fifth-placed Perry Lakes Hawks at midday on Saturday at Lakeside Recreation Centre.

The top-of-the-table Wanneroo Wolves are two games clear on top having won three straight matches and host the Rockingham Flames on Saturday at Joondalup Basketball Centre.

The Flames are backing up from hosting the Redbacks on Friday while the Wolves are looking to maintain their lead at top of the standings.

The final game of the weekend sees the Willetton Tigers host the Mandurah Magic at Willetton Basketball Stadium on Saturday night. The Tigers thumped the Flames last week 101-50 to improve to an 11-5 record to sit in second spot while Mandurah has lost five in-a-row to be 4-11 in 11th.
