Week Sixteen 'Kickz101 Perth' Newcomers of the Week
Cockburn Cougars rising star Seva Chan, has taken out the Week Sixteen ‘Kickz101 Perth’ Men’s Newcomer of the Week award.
Chan, who played in the Cougars 2012 championship winning side, has continued to impress in the Men’s SBL this season. On Saturday night Chan played a key role in Cockburn’s 85-79 away win over the Goldfields Giants at Neils Hansen Basketball Stadium, accumulating 11 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals in just twenty-two minutes of game time.
At just nineteen years-of-age, Chan has thrived under the guidance of experienced head coach Stephen Charlton, who has been willing to give him the opportunities required to further development his game.
The Week Sixteen ‘Kickz101 Perth’ Women’s Newcomer of the Week has been awarded to Courtney Bayliss of the Lakeside Lightning.
Bayliss was super-efficient in Lakesides nineteen point win over Perry Lakes on Saturday night, with an impressive shooting display, including three of four from beyond the arc, amassing 15 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals in just eighteen minutes of game time.
With her 3pt field goal percentage now sitting at 41.7% for the season, opposition teams will be sure to put in some extra time to their defence in the hope, sharp-shooter Bayliss doesn’t get open from long range.
Chan and Bayliss are now in contention for the monthly award where the winner of a facebook poll receives a pair of shoes of their choice thanks to Kickz101 Perth.
