June 'Kickz101 Perth' Newcomers of the Month

The SBL gave the fans the ability to decide the winner of the June 'Kickz101 Perth' Newcomers of the Month via a voting ballot displayed on the SBL Facebook page.

The votes have been counted and the winners are Joshua Throns from the Stirling Senators and Samantha Roscoe of the Stirling Senators. 

The voting in the Men's poll was extremely close all the way until voting closed at 9:30am on Thursday July 11.

Mitchell Clarke (Willetton) finished with 28 votes, Austin Kisselev (East Perth) managed to attract 44 voters, Darrell Morgan of the Lakeside Lightning was a popular pick for the award with 551 votes, narrowly beaten by Stirling's Joshua Throns who picked up 563 votes after an outstanding first season in the SBL.

Throns nomination came in week thirteen after putting on a stellar shooting display as Stirling took on the highly ranked East Perth at the Morley Rec Centre knocking down 20 points which included five three’s from beyond the arc to go with 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 3 blocks as the Senators caused an upset win 98-91.

The women's competition was a little more one sided with Samantha Roscoe of the Stirling Senators taking out the award with 154 votes. Her nearest competitor came from the Kalamunda Eastern Suns in Jessie Edwards who picked up 97 votes followed by Gabby O'Sullivan (Perth) on 80 and Sarah Donovan (Perry Lakes) on 38.

Roscoe's nomination came in week fourteen when she put together an impressive game to record 12 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 blocks in just seventeen minutes of game time as Stirling went on to defeat Mandurah 80-55.

Joshua Throns and Samantha Roscoe will now receive a free pair of shoes of their choice in-store thanks to award sponsors Kickz101 Perth.

Kickz101 Perth is located in the city in the Piccadilly Arcade, Upstairs near Cinemas and is open seven days a week.
