Top-four look to consolidate (Women's Preview)

The Week 18 action begins on Friday night with three fixtures that sees the Collie Crane Hire South West Slammers take on the Perry Lakes Hawks, the Lakeside Lightning facing the Kalamunda Eastern Suns and the Mandurah Magic battling the Toll Ipec Eagles.

Then on Saturday night, the BOQ Perth Redbacks host the South West Slammers, the Rockingham Flames take on the Mandurah Magic, the East Perth Eagles face the Willetton Tigers and the Stirling Senators face off with the Cockburn Cougars.

There is a couple of big milestones over the course of the weekend as well with Liz Cooke set to notch up 350 SBL matches for the East Perth Eagles while Emma Berryman will also play her 200th game when she hits the floor for the Kalamunda Eastern Suns.

When the South West Slammers host the Perry Lakes Hawks on Friday, the Slammers will be looking to win their third straight match and snatch seventh position in the standings off the Hawks who are on a three-match losing slide.

The Lakeside Lightning have been on a terrific run of form having won seven matches on the trot to improve to an 11-7 record to sit in fourth spot on the table and they will stay there with a win over Kalamunda Eastern Suns on Friday at Lakeside Recreation Centre.

The Suns have been heading in the opposite direction to the Lightning having now lost five straight to slide to a 10-9 record in fifth position. Kalamunda has also won just two of 11 games on the road this season.

The women's SBL bottom two sides then do battle at Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre when the Mandurah Magic hosts the East Perth Eagles. The Eagles will be under caretaker coaches Kate Thompson and Bill Edwards after Aaron Berryman stepped down this week.

Then in Saturday night's action, the Perth Redbacks will look to upset the South West Slammers' finals aspirations.

The Redbacks might be out of running themselves in 10th spot, but they did knock off Kalamunda last week and would love to do the same this Saturday against a Slammers team coming off playing at home to Perry Lakes on Friday.

The Magic then have to back up taking on East Perth to face the second-placed Rockingham Flames at Mike Barnett Sports Complex on Saturday.

The Eagles then also back up from playing on Friday to host the Willetton Tigers at Morley Sport and Recreation Centre on Saturday with the Tigers looking to win and maintain second position on the table to hold off the chasing Rockingham Flames.

The ninth-placed Stirling Senators then host the Cockburn Cougars at Warwick Leisure Centre with the Cougars looking to stop a two-game losing slide.
