Week Eighteen SBL Players of the Week

The Week Eighteen Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Stirling Senators guard Taylor Lilley.

WNBA sharp-shooter, Taylor Lilley has stunned teams this year with her amazing shooting ability as she did on Saturday night when the Senators took on the Cougars at the Warwick Leisure Centre.

Lilley was instrumental in Stirling’s 85-77, eight point victory over Cockburn, hitting six three-point-shots to record a game high 31 points to go with 4 rebounds and 2 steals.

Out of the University of Oregon and having played with the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA, Lilley, one of the most highly regarded players in the WSBL, will play a major role in the Senators fight for the top eight in the coming two weeks.

Other considerations for the award included; Samantha Whitcomb (Rockingham), Melissa Marsh (Willetton), Stephanie Jones (Cockburn), Jennie Rintala (Kalamunda), Briana Klasztorny (Mandurah), Zoe Harper (South West), Marita Payne (Perth), Kimberly Sitzmann (South West) and Courtney Byrnes (Lakeside).

People’s Choice - East Perth Eagles centre Tom Jervis has been announced the Week Eighteen Men’s SBL Player of the Week.

Jervis was outstanding on the weekend in a tough double-header against Willetton and Mandurah.

On Friday night, Jervis put together a spectacular performance to lead the Eagles to an eight point victory over the Magic, at the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre. Jervis had a monster game to score 39 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 7 blocks.

East Perth looked to back up their impressive win on Friday night when they faced Willetton at the Morley Sport and Recreation Centre the following night. Jervis was again unstoppable for the Eagles as he recorded 30 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals and 9 blocks to lead East Perth to a twenty-eight point victory 130-102.

The 2012 SBL All-Star centre, continues to show his dominance in 2013, leading the league in blocked shots at 3.1 per game, and poses as a serious threat to opposition teams, particularly when he is in the devastating form shown on the weekend.
