Week Twenty SBL Players of the Week

The week twenty, Men’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Tom Jervis of the People’s Choice, East Perth Eagles.

On Friday Night, the Eagles and the Suns put on a classic for the fans, with East Perth getting up in a nail bitting overtime win 114-108.

The 7ft centres, Luke Nevill and Tom Jervis went head to head, both putting up huge numbers. Nevill accumulated 37 points, 14 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 blocks and 3 steals, while Jervis finished the game with a massive triple double of 36 points, 21 rebounds, 13 assists, 2 steals and 1 block.

The East Perth Eagles head into the Quarter Finals with a match up against South West and if Jervis is in this kind of form throughout the series, it could spell trouble for the Slammers.

Other considerations for the award included, Luke Nevill (Kalamunda), Ben Purser (Perry Lakes), Justin Brown (Perth), Adrian Majstrovich (Perry Lakes), Trian Iliadis (Wanneroo), Benjamin Beran (Lakeside), Ty Harrelson (South West) and Quinn McDowell (Willetton).

The week twenty, Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Nikita-Lee Martin of the Wanneroo Wolves.

Disappointingly for the Wolves they were defeated by the Lakeside Lightning on Saturday night at the Joondalup Basketball Stadium, 67-76. The Wolves can take a positive out of the game, with Martin putting together an outstanding game to record 29 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals which will give her great confidence heading into finals.

The Wolves take on the Stirling Senators in the quarter finals with Nikita-Lee Martin looking to play a valuable role in ensuring her team can progress to the semi-finals.

Other considerations for the award included, Lisa Wallbutton (Willetton), Marita Payne (Perth), Emma Pass (Cockburn), Kimberly Sitzmann (South West) and Nicole Jorre St Jorre (East Perth).
