Kickz101 Newcomer of the Week (QF's - Week One)
The Quarter-Finals, Week one, ‘Kickz101 Perth’ Women’s Newcomer of the Week has been awarded to Chelsea Evans of the Cockburn Cougars.
The Cougars hosted the Flames at Wally Hagan Stadium on Friday night, as they attempted to upset the team many are tipping to take out this year’s WSBL Championship. Evans was outstanding for the home side, recording 28 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist which included a phenomenal six-of-eight from three-point-land and an overall shooting percentage of 73% for the game.
The Cougars travel to Rockingham on Friday night as they look to level the series and will be hoping Evans can reproduce the same kind of performance to give them the best chance of causing a boil-over at Mike Barnett Sports Complex.
Australian Belt Scrappers, Wanneroo Wolves guard, Reece Maxwell has been announced, the Quarter-Finals - Week one, ‘Kickz101 Perth’ Men’s Newcomer of the week.
On Saturday night the Wolves welcomed the Buccs into the Joondalup Basketball Stadium in what was a high quality, physical encounter between both teams. The Wolves had plenty of input off the bench, including Reece Maxwell’s game of 10 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocks in 29 minutes of game time.
Wanneroo now travel to Geraldton on Saturday to take on the Buccs in front of a packed out Active West Stadium. The Wolves will be hoping for more of the same defensive pressure from Maxwell as they look to stun the Buccs and earn themselves a ticket to the Semi-Finals.
Evans and Maxwell are now in contention for the monthly award where the winner of a voting poll receives a pair of shoes of their choice thanks to Kickz101 Perth.
