SBL All-Star Team to take on the Perth Wildcats

The State Basketball League has put together a strong all-star team to take on the Perth Wildcats at the WA Basketball Centre, this Sunday, September 8 at 1:00pm.

South West Slammers, Ty Harrelson will lead the team as player/coach, with Perry Lakes Hawks, Charles Nix taking on the lead assistant role and Michael Van Lit (South West) as the second assistant coach.

The team comprises of experienced league veterans, some exciting young stars and four star imports. “This is an exciting opportunity for the SBL to showcase it’s talent on the big stage. We aimed to put together a team that will not only be exciting for the fans to watch but also be competitive against one of the best teams in Australia” said Adam Bowler (SBL General Manager).

The SBL Commission restricted the team to a limit of four imports to ensure the team had a strong Australian contingent. “We wanted to provide our local players with the opportunity to experience this rare chance to play against an NBL team, which led to the decision of only selecting four imports”.

With the Wildcats squad already consisting of numerous SBL stars including, Michael Vigor (Perth), Damian Scott (Cockburn), Ben Purser (Perry Lakes) and Tom Jervis (East Perth), the State Basketball League looked for available players who have performed strongly throughout the 2013 SBL season and could bring another dimension to the team.
