Kickz101 Perth SBL Players of the Week

The week eight “Kickz101 Perth” Men’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Quinn McDowell of the Willetton Tigers.

2013 SBL all-star shooting guard Quinn McDowell was unstoppable for the Willetton Tigers on Saturday Night as they defeated the Mandurah Magic 139 to 123 at the Willetton Basketball Stadium.

Arguably the best shooter in the SBL, McDowell finished with a game high 43 points to go with 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals in the high scoring encounter.

Head coach, Matt Foster has two major offensive weapons at his disposal this season including the league’s leading scorer John Dickson (33.8ppg) and the league’s third leading scorer Quinn McDowell (31.8ppg). With both these players gelling together, Tigers fans will be enthusiastic about their team’s chances to build on their current three game winning streak and consolidate a playoffs position in 2014.

The week eight “Kickz101 Perth” Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Jennie Rintala of the Kalamunda Eastern Suns.

2013 Grand Finalists, the Kalamunda Eastern Suns have been building momentum this year under head coach Craig Mansfield after injuries hampered the start of their 2014 campaign.

Kalamunda hosted the Collie Crane Hire South West Slammers on Saturday night at the Ray Owen Sports Centre where Rintala dominated at both ends of the floor to record a game high 24 points, 18 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block in just 29 minutes to lead the Eastern Suns to a fourteen point victory 89-75.

Rintala has been outstanding for the Eastern Suns this season averaging 16.2 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. With the new addition of quality import Alison Schwagmeyer to the line-up, look for the Eastern Suns to come home strong in the back half of the season as they push for a second consecutive grand final appearance.
