Kickz101 Perth SBL Players of the Week

The week fourteen “Kickz101 Perth” Men’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Aaron Ralph of the Sun City Plumbing Geraldton Buccaneers.

The Stirling Senators were sent packing from Active West Stadium on Saturday night 106 to 84 after Aaron Ralph caught fire for the home side to record a huge 49 points which included 8 three’s, 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and not a single turnover in 44 minutes of game time.

With Saturday night’s win the Geraldton Buccaneers now sit comfortable at the top of the MSBL ladder a game clear of nearest rivals the Rockingham Flames.

Averaging 3.2 three’s per game this season there is no denying Aaron Ralph is currently one of the top outside shooters in the SBL and a major contributor to the Buccs success so far in 2014.

Incredibly unlucky to miss out on this week’s award was SBL veteran Jarrad Prue who recorded a monster game of 23 points, 27 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 blocks in Lakesides home win against the Willetton Tigers.

The league’s greatest ever rebounder Jarrad Prue is averaging an astonishing 25.2 rebounds per game in 2014 now with a record 5280 career rebounds next to his name.

Other considerations for this week’s award included;

Cooper Land (Rockingham), Benjamin Smith (Kalamunda), Lee Roberts (Perth), Corey Easley (Perry lakes), Tom Jervis (East Perth), Trian Iliadis (Joondalup), Stanley Okoye (Perth), Damien Scott (Cockburn), Gavin Field (Cockburn),  Duran Blue (Goldfields), Clive Weedon (South West) , Taylor Mullenax (Mandurah), Nicholas Cody (Willetton), John Dickson (Willetton), Ty Harrelson (South West), Michael Haney (Goldfields), Luke Nevill (Kalamunda) & Cody Ellis (Stirling).

The week fourteen “Kickz101 Perth” Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded to Lauren Jeffers of the Collie Crane Hire South West Slammers.

On Friday night the South West Slammers travelled to Perth to face the star studded line-up of the Willetton Tigers. Lauren Jeffers was a solid contributor for the visiting side recording 15 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals as they went down 79 to 62.

On Saturday night the visiting Perry Lakes Hawks could not contain the Slammers point guard as she recorded 31 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocks to lead her team to victory 84 to 62 in front of the home crowd at Eaton Recreation Centre.

Saturday night’s win has the Collie Crane Hire South West Slammers sitting in eighth position on the ladder, which interestingly is where they finished in 2013 before knocking off the top ranked Willetton Tigers in the first round.

Darcee Garbin of the Orange Auto’s Rockingham Flames was unlucky to miss out on this week’s award after a brilliant individual display against the Mandurah Magic on Friday night where she recorded 30 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Flames to their seventeenth straight victory 98 to 59.

Other considerations for the award included;

Amy Patton (South West), Alison Schwagmeyer (Kalamunda), Nikita-Lee Martin (Joondalup), Samantha Whitcomb (Rockingham), Jessica Jakens (Perth), Lisa Wallbutton (Willetton), Casey Mihovilovich (Mandurah), Emily Fielding (Lakeside), Stephanie Jones ( East Perth) & Jessie Edwards (Kalamunda).
