Coaches look ahead to Week 15 of the SBL

SOME SBL women's and men's coaches shared their thoughts about their upcoming matches this weekend in Week 15 of the 2014 season.

Coach – Craig Mansfield

What a great opportunity this weekend presents for us. Playing the Flames in Rockingham on a Friday night is the biggest challenge in WSBL and then to back this up the following night against a great Cougars team will also be fun.

Last weekend I watched the Flames play Mandurah; Whitcomb and Garbin were dynamic but they have a whole host of other players who can hurt you as well.
On paper both the weekend's games should be competitive and my girls will always back themselves and play positively, so we will get to see how good we really are at the moment.

We know we face a Suns team that not only made the grand final in 2013, but then have loaded up with a second star import in 2014.

They're one of only three teams with two hand-picked imports in Schwagmeyer and Rintala, and then back that up with four girls with WNBL experience in Moyle, Armstrong, AJ and Edwards. Injuries and a late start slowed them down early, but they'll turn into a buzz saw come playoff time.

MEN'S
VORIAN AGENCY EAST PERTH EAGLES
Coach – Adam Forde

The boys have strung some wins together now which has helped us work our way back into the top eight. But with so many teams in the mix, every weekend the positions are changing. A bad weekend this weekend could possibly send us back out of the eight.

Most of the remaining games we are playing teams that not only in the same position as us, but also hold the head to head. So playing for the win isn't only the sole goal in most instances.

The Eastern Suns are always hard with their style of constant motion and now they have super talented boomer in Luke Nevill. We need a big crowd again to get us over the line.
