Redbacks Lose Double
The Perth Redbacks men’s and women’s State Basketball League teams lost to Lakeside Lightning in last weekend’s home game fixture.
The Redbacks’ men lost 108 to 117 in what was a competitive game where the lead changed 14 times.
As a result of other results going their way, this sees the Redbacks’ men remaining in fourth-place in the 14-team competition with 11 wins and nine losses.
Redbacks’ power-forward Lee Roberts was their top-scorer with 34 points along with 13 rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Small-forward Stan Okoye scored 29 along with nine rebounds and four steals while centre Dennis Tawhiti had 17 points, nine rebounds and four assists and point-guard Joel Wagner had 12 assists and 12 points.
The Redbacks’ women’s team lost 63 to 79, which sees them in 12th place in the 12-team competition with 18 losses.
Redbacks’ point-guard Gabby O’Sullivan was their top-scorer with 19 together with six rebounds, four steals and three assists.
Shooting guard Jess Hughes had 15 points and two assists while power-forward Jess Jakens scored eight and had four rebounds and two assists.
The action continues this Saturday when the Redbacks take on the Kalamunda Eastern Suns with the women’s game tipping off at 6PM and the men’s game at 8PM.
