Najee Lane Returning to Cougars
The Cockburn Cougars MSBL squad are pleased to announce the re-signing of import Najee Lane.
Lane returns to the Cougars after a stellar first year in the SBL, where he averaged 22.2 points, 9.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists.
Lane’s speed and quickness defensively proved to be a headache for many guards around the league, which was reflected in his league leading average of 2.8 steals per game.
He also shot a respectable 48% from the field and 36% from behind the three point line.
Cougars head coach Matt Parsons is pleased to have Lane returning to the squad ahead of the 2016 season.
“Having Najee back for 2016 is a great result for the club and the program,” Parsons said.
“He is a hard worker, a glue guy who always puts team success over individual success and he impacts the game in so many areas whether it be scoring, rebounding or defending,” Parsons added.
“He wants to win and he wanted to come back to be a part of our club and community and this is a huge testament to all of the hard work our Cougar family has put in.”
Lane joins Marcus Goode as the two male imports for the Cougars for the season ahead.
The Cougars first game of the 2016 season is on the 19th March against the Perth Redbacks at Belmont Oasis Leisure Centre.
