WSBL Player of the Week
THE week six Women’s SBL Player of the Week has been awarded Candace Williams of the Lapa Brazilian BBQ Restaurant Cockburn Cougars.
Another two stand out performances by import Candace Williams over the weekend have seen her take out a second consecutive player of the week award.
Friday night saw the Cockburn Cougars head up the freeway to take on the highly ranked Joondalup Wolves at their home stadium.
Williams did all she could for the visiting side with a phenomenal game of 36 points, 20 rebounds and 2 assists with the Wolves eventual winners 82 to 69.
Monday’s clash between the Cougars and the Lakeside Lightning at Wally Hagan Stadium again became the Candace Williams show as she dominated for the home side with 26 points and 15 rebounds in their eight point win 80-72.
Williams has taken the league by storm since her delayed debut for the Cougars in early April and now leads the league in both scoring and rebounding with a huge 29.3 points and 16.3 rebounds per game.
Cockburn now sit in eighth position in the standings and will aim to cement a playoff spot on the back of these type of performances from MVP candidate Candace Williams.
