Wolves Defeat Buccs

THE Titan Interactive Wanneroo Wolves have again evened up their win-loss ratio for the season with a 15-point victory over the Dominos Geraldton Buccaneers in the sixth round of the SBL season.

The Wolves were 14 points behind after the first quarter, but a 35-point second quarter, followed up with a solid second half allowed them to overrun the Geraldton outfit.

Wolves Star Damian Matacz dominated the scoring, shooting 29 of Wanneroo’s 100 points, but it was the fact that all nine Wolves players who got court time put points on the board that brought the Buccaneers undone.

Despite Geraldton’s Michael Le Blanc scoring 37, with an impressive four for five record on three pointers, only six of the Geraldton players scored, while the Wolves four bottom scorers added 11 points to the side’s total.

Doug Gates added 22 points, while Tony Pearman made 18. Ryan Benson’s nine defensive rebounds helped keep the Buccaneers at bay.

The Titan Interactive Wanneroo Wolves play Mandurah Magic at Joondalup Basketball Stadium this Saturday. The women tip off at 6.00pm, followed by the men at 8pm.
