Redbacks Split the Ledger with Wolves

The Southside Mitsubishi Redbacks' women's team beat the Joondalup City Wolves 84 to 50 points in Saturday night's State Basketball League game at Joondalup Basketball.  In what became the Renae Camino / Brooke Hiddlestone show, Camino top-scored for the Redbacks with 36 points along with 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocked shots and Hiddlestone scored 26 points along with 14 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots. 

Shooting guard Jacinta Bourne was the next highest scorer for the Redbacks with 10 points; with fellow shooting guard Kerise Delcoure their next highest scorer with 8 points.  Daniele Lipscombe top-scored for the Wolves with 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 1 blocked shots, with Meghan D'arcy their next highest scorer on 8 points along with 3 rebounds.

The Redbacks' now have a season record of 8 wins and 5 losses and sit in 5th position in the 12-team league.

The Southside Mitsubishi Redbacks' men's team found it tough going against the highly-rated Titan Interactive Wolves going down 80 to 100 points.  US import Chris Lynch top-scored for the Redbacks with 33 points along with 11 rebounds and 2 steals, with Ryan Neill being their next highest scorer with 14 points along with 6 rebounds.

Wolves player Jeff Dowdell, who also plays for the Wildcats, was the game-high scorer with 37 points along with 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals with fellow Wildcats player Alex Loughton their next highest scorer with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 3 blocked shots.

The loss sees the Redbacks' men with a season record of 6 wins and 9 losses and in 8th place in the 14-team competition.

The Redbacks' women's team has a bye next weekend with the men's team travelling to Geraldton for the tough country road fixture against the second-placed Domino's Geraldton Buccaneers at the Tip-Top Stadium in Eight Street Wonthella.
