A Close Struggle for Senators

THE Stirling Senator men's team, struggled to the Geraldton Buccaneers and Eastern Suns to record their third and fourth loss in a row losing 92-100 and 106-125 over the weekend respectively.

Friday night's game turned out to be an interesting one for the men with Edward Morris losing a tooth but it sure didn't stop him from playing a competitive game on Sunday. The Senators held on tight throughout the whole game on Sunday leaving Geraldton only able to get 12 up at one stage.

The first quarter ended with CARMIE OLOWOYO shooting a 3 pointer with only 2 seconds to go to bringing the score within 2 points after a quarter of good ball movement and pressure by the home side.

Bright after the quarter time talk Edward Morris took the court and responded with some great rebounds. With six minutes left in the term Morris brought the crowd to their feet as he stole the ball at half court, with a two on one struggle and took it all the way to the hoop and dunked it over Buccs Michael Le Blanc with one hand.

It was looking up from there with some great tactics and points from Mark Shipley and the Salinas brothers in the third term bringing the senators to a 4 point lead at three quarter time.

Unfortunately the final term saw the Buccaneers hold their ground and deliver some great basketball which saw the senators down by 8 at the final buzzer.

Friday night also saw the Senators Women's team record another loss for the season after their game in Lesmurdie to the Eastern Suns. Playing a steady game the girls found it hard without an experienced inside which saw those taking shots not making them to the ring.

Both sides would like to thank all its supporters and hope to see you all at home next Saturday night when we verse Lakeside Lightning.
