Week 10 PowerPlayer of the Week

The State Basketball League has released the Week 10 PowerPlayer of the week awards. Each week thanks to PowerPlay Sports one Women's and one Men's SBL player is awarded the SBL PowerPlayer of the week award. The winner receives a $50 voucher for PowerPlay Sports in Subiaco.

Week Ten's winner is Natalie Young from the Lakeside Lightning who also claimed the award back in Week 2. Young had an impressive weekend in her side's split weekend. In the Lightning's upset win over the Flames Young had 20 points, 9 rebounds & 3 assists. Then in her side's loss to the Eagles Young lit it up for 38 points (100% from outside three point arc), 4 rebounds & 3 assists. Young is leading from the front for the Lightning in 2009 averaging 25.1 points in her 11 games.

Samantha Norwood & Renae Camino also came under close consideration for their efforts. Norwood averaged 22.5 points & 15 rebounds over two wins for her Kalamunda Eastern Suns. Camino had a big impact in her first weekend leading the Redbacks to two big wins with averages of 30.5 points, 7 rebounds & 4.5 assists.

Others in consideration for the Week 10 PowerPlayer of the week were Courtney Bayliss (Lightning), Kaye Tucker (Flames), Brooke Hiddlestone (Redbacks), Elizabeth Lennox (Slammers), Courtney Hargreaves (Tigers), Shelley Boston (Magic), Sandra Faye Muller-Garner (Eagles), Kelli Hayward (Magic) & Tanya Wardrope (Hawks).

In the Men's competition Adrian Majstravich takes out his first PowerPlayer of the Week award after a consistent season. Majstravich led his side to a crucial 2-0 weekend averaging 32.5 points, 9 rebounds & 2.5 assists. Majstravich also shot a consistent 48.7% from the field for his two outings. His efforts saw the Eastern Suns climb from 13th to 11th on the table. 

Rockingham Flames young-gun Ryan Godfrey was also closely considered for the award for his weekend. Godfrey had 34 points (50% from outside the arc) in his side's 11 point loss to the Lightning. He backed this effort up with 38 points (56% shooting) and 4 rebounds as his side was defeated by the rampaging Dominos Geraldton Buccaneers.

Others that were considered for the award were Joseph Nixon (Eastern Suns), Chris Dodd (Senators), Jarrad Prue (Lightning), Luke Payne (Lightning), Chris Lynch (Redbacks), Vincent James (Slammers), Robert Epps (Tigers), Clint Read (Tigers), Shaun Bennison (Magic), Daniel Thomas (Buccs), Luke Meyer (Buccs), Mark Heron (Giants), Mark Jones (Cougars), Stephen Weigh (Eagles), Ben Caporn (Magic), Peter Crawford (Hawks), Ben Purser (Hawks), Daniel Hawkins (Hawks), John Smith (Slammers), Corey Easley (Eastern Suns), Jeff Dowdell (Wolves) & Edward Morris Jr (Senators)
