Week 11 PowerPlayer of the Week

The State Basketball League has released the Week 11 PowerPlayer of the week awards. Each week thanks to PowerPlay Sports one Women’s and one Men’s SBL player is awarded the SBL PowerPlayer of the week award. The winner receives a $50 voucher for PowerPlay Sports in Subiaco.

Week Eleven’s winner is Shelley Boston from the Mandurah Magic who also claimed the award back in Week 7. Boston had 21 points, 11 rebounds & 4 assists in her sides 76-53 defeat over the impressive Flames outfit. Boston shot at 53% from the floor and 71% from the line in leading her side to the upset victory. 

Kaye Tucker (Flames) & Elizabeth Lennox (Slammers) were also considered for the award. Tucker had 31 points, 9 rebounds & 5 assists in her sides win over the ladder leading Hawks but could not back it up against the Magic. Lennox had 16 points & 12 rebounds against the Cougars and 16 points & 21 rebounds against the Wolves in her sides 0-2 weekend.

Others in consideration for the Week 11 PowerPlayer of the week were Tegan Walker (Hawks), Natalie Young (Lightning), Ashley Gilmore (Tigers), Emma Pass (Cougars), Ella Buckley (Cougars), Emily Fielding (Eastern Suns), Casey Haggar (Flames), Gabriella Clayton (Senators) & Courtney Bayliss (Lightning).

In the Men’s competition Wildcats squad member Ryan Godfrey led his Rockingham Flames to a much needed 2-0 weekend. Godfrey averaged 31.5 points, 4 rebounds & 4 assists. Godfrey also shot at an average of 44% for the weekend. Godfreys shooting led the Flames to two wins over the fancied Perry Lakes Hawks & cross-town rivals the Mandurah Magic.

Daniel Hawkins (Hawks) & Luke Payne (Lightning) were also closely considered this week. Hawkins’ effort of 32 points and 25 rebounds to lead his side in their loss to the Flames was solid. Just as impressive was Payne who had 31 points against the Tigers and 39 against the Senators in his side’s 2-0 weekend.

Others that were considered for the award were Rhett Della (Flames), Jarrad Prue (Lightning), Robert Epps (Tgiers), Chris Christoffersen (Tigers), Cameron Gliddon (Slammers), Douglas McLaughlin-Williams (Cougars), Michael Le Blanc (Buccs), Michael Vigor (Redbacks), Alonzo Hird (Giants), Ben Thompson (Eagles), Martin Cattalini (Cougars), Joseph Nixon (Suns), Tom Remmerswaal (Magic), Joseph Harrell Jr (Flames), Edward Morris Jr (Senators), Alex Loughton (Wolves) & Vincent James (Slammers).
