Stirling Men Record Another Upset Loss

THE Stirling Senators played a gruelling game of basketball against the East Perth Eagles in the men’s league on Saturday night only to record another upset loss, 112-97.

Fighting strong Import Ed Morris scored all points in the first five minutes of the game finishing the term with strong ball movement and rebounds. Former Wildcats player now playing for the Eagles Ben Thompson played a great half taking the ball to the hoop with a 75% success rate.

Periods of tension in the game exacerbated by the referees saw the boys lose the power they are known to play with leaving the third term with a 14 point defecate.

Mark Shipley showed the both teams how to play good ball in the last term by taking his shots clean and straight to the hoop. With the Senators seen to be closing the gap fast the Eagles called their time outs. After returning to the court the lease of fire was lost sending the game to a close.

“We brought the game back by almost 20 at one stage and I think we ran out of legs at the end and got a bit sloppy in defence and they extended that lead to 15 in the end.” Sidelined player David Favoury said after the game.

With a trip to Kalgoorlie next week to take on the Goldfield Giants the Stirling team are continuing to work hard on their defensive tactics eagerly waiting to add another win to the scoreboard.
