Week 12 PowerPlayer of the Week
The State Basketball League has released the Week 12 PowerPlayer of the week awards. Each week thanks to PowerPlay Sports one Women’s and one Men’s SBL player is awarded the SBL PowerPlayer of the week award. The winner receives a $50 voucher for PowerPlay Sports in Subiaco.
Week Twelves WSBL winner is Sandra Faye Muller-Garner from the East Perth Eagles. Muller-Garner had 13 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists as her side recorded their third straight win with their 72-66 defeat of the Senators. Since Muller-Garner has arrived the Eagles are 3-0.
Shelley Boston from the Mandurah Magic was the other player closely considered for the award. Her side recorded an upset victory over the top of the table Perry Lakes Hawks on the weekend. Boston led the way with 22 points & 18 rebounds while shooting over 50%.
Others in consideration for the Week 12 PowerPlayer of the week were Tanya Kelly (Hawks), Alicia Rinaldi (Senators), Gabbi Clayton (Senators), Kaye Tucker (Flames), Jodie Wallace (Wolves), Kate Malpass (Tigers), Lyndal Gardner (Hawks) & Ella Buckley (Cougars).
The Men’s award was won by Jarrad Prue of the Lakeside Lightning as his side defeated the Dominos Geraldton Buccaneers in their top of the table clash. Prue was outstanding in leading his side to victory with 20 points, 21 rebounds & 4 assists while shooting 64%.
Also in very close contention was Rhett Della (Flames) who had two strong games in his side’s 2-0 weekend with 27 points & 13 rebounds against the Eastern Suns. He backed this up with 26 points, 9 rebounds & 7 assists against the Redbacks. Chris Lynch (Redbacks) also was strong in his side’s 0-2 weekend in averaging 35.5 points and 17.5 rebounds per game.
Others that were considered for the award were Adrian Majstrovich (Eastern Suns), Joseph Harrel Jr (Flames), Tom Garlepp (Hawks), Daniel Hawkins (Hawks), Aaron Trahair (Magic)Tom Remmerswaal (Magic), Michael Le Blanc (Buccs), Luke Meyer (Buccs), Alonzo Hird (Giants), Russel Hurst (Giants), Michael Haney (Giants), Mark Jones (Cougars), Douglas McLaughlin-Williams (Cougars), Tom Jervis (Eagles), Ben Thompson (Eagles), Edward Morris Jr (Senators), Joel Wagner (Redbacks), Jeff Dowdell (Wolves) & Chris Christoferssen (Tigers).
