Week 13 PowerPlayer of the Week
The State Basketball League has released the Week 13 PowerPlayer of the week awards. Each week thanks to PowerPlay Sports one Women’s and one Men’s SBL player is awarded the SBL PowerPlayer of the week award. The winner receives a $50 voucher for PowerPlay Sports in Subiaco.
Week Twelve’s winner is Deanna Smith from the Perry Lakes Hawks who also claimed the award back in Weeks 3 & 8. Smith who had only just arrived back from a grueling two week overseas tour with the Opals led her side to a 2-0 weekend. The Go for 2&5 Perth Lynx star averaged 32.5 points, 8 rebounds & 4.5 assists.
Others in consideration for the Week 12 PowerPlayer of the week were Kate Malpass (Tigers), Natalie Young (Lightning), Meghan D’arcy (Wolves), Sandra Faye Muller-Garner (Eagles), Vanessa Michaels (Cougars, Renee Camino (Redbacks), Gemma Thomas (Magic), Elizabeth Lennox (Slammers) & Casey Haggar (Flames).
In the Men’s competition Clint Read led his Southlands Boulevarde Willetton Tigers to a much needed victory over the impressive Hawks outfit. Read was in vintage form leading his side with 28 points, 11 rebounds while dishing out 8 assists.
Others that were considered for the award were Joe-Allan Tupaea (Hawks), Jarrad Prue (Lightning), Jeff Dowdell (Wolves), Luke Meyer (Buccs), Ben Smith (Eastern Suns), Alonzo Hird (Giants), Edward Morris Jr (Senators), Ben Thompson (Eagles), Douglas McLaughlin-Williams (Cougars), Chris Lynch (Redbacks), Tom Remmeswaal (Magic), John Smith (Slammers) & Aaron Colley (Flames).
