Wilson proves key player as Eagles humble Wolves

OPALS star and new East Perth Eagles recruit Carly Wilson helped the Eagles women enjoy another SBL win on the weekend , making this their fourth win out of the past five.

On Saturday night, the team travelled to Wanneroo to take on the Wolves, who beat the Eagles by 22 points last time out.

In this game, Eagles players improved their shooting performance with more points coming from within the keyway and they created more second-chance points to win 81-74.

The experience of Wilson was noticeable in the final quarter when the Eagles had to come from behind to win the game.

In the men’s game, the Eagles took on the Wolves in what turned out to be a very tight defensive game with the lead constantly changing.

With the game in the balance and nine seconds remaining, Wolves’ Marcus Moore made a steal and then made a successful two-point shot pushing the Wolves’ lead out to three.

The Eagles had a chance to tie the game with two seconds remaining on the clock when Stephen Weigh in-bounded the ball to veteran Ben Thompson who put up a final three point shot which missed.

The Wolves won 83-80 with the Eagles’ low shooting percentage being the notable difference between the teams.
