Local Drug Action Group SBL Challenge - $2 Entry!

Spectator entry has been reduced to $2 per person for this Saturday, 27 June, fixtures between the Southside Mitsubishi Redbacks and the Kalamunda Eastern Suns at the Belmont Oasis Leisure Centre, corner Alexander and Abernathy Roads Belmont.

For this incredibly cheap price you will see two quality games involving teams desperately trying to secure positions and places in the playoffs.

The women’s game starts at 6PM and the men’s game at 8PM.

The women’s game will sees the 4th placed Redbacks up against the 5th placed Suns.  The result will may well rest upon how the key Redbacks’ Renae Camino, Brooke Hiddlestone, Narelle Henry and Jacinta Bourne go against the Suns’ Samantha Norwood, Brittany Morgan, Emily Lobb and Chantel Foord.  There is a lot of current and former international and NBL talent in that group of players.

The last time the Redbacks’ and Suns’ men’s teams played the game was won by the Redbacks in overtime.  This weekend’s game is vital for each team in their endeavours to secure one of the last two playoff spots.  Currently the Redbacks are in 7th place and the Suns in 11th, however the Suns have two games in hand and there are only two wins that separate the teams.

It is likely there will be a similarly close outcome to the last time these two teams met with the key match-ups of the Redbacks’ Chris Lynch, Earl Nurse, Michael Vigor Joel Wagner, Ryan Neill and Jarrad Prior up against the Suns in-form Adrian Majstrovich, Joe Nixon, Corey Easley, Ben Smith, Will Smith and Austin Bruton being vital to the outcome.

One thing for sure, both games will see two teams fighting “tooth and nail” to secure a win.  And all this for just $2.

The games are sponsored by the Local Drug Action Groups Inc and form part of Drug Action Week.  The week is devoted to getting the key health message of an awareness of the dangers that can result from the non-therapeutic use of legal or illegal drugs, which includes the excess use of alcohol.

We look forward to seeing a large crowd to support this event.
