Winning Cougars

THE Cockburn Cougars men’s team kept their winning streak intact on the weekend by overcoming the Flames in the final quarter to win by 121 to 106.

Alex Prince led the scorers for the Cougars with 36 points and 10 rebounds.

Despite a 14-point deficit going into the final quarter, a powerhouse performance by Bryce Burch and uncanny accuracy from beyond the 3-point arc by Prince saw the Cougars go on to win by 15 points.

This Saturday will see the Cougars in action once more against cross-town rivals Willetton. It will be the first time two of the American players line up against each other.

The high flying Doug McLaughlin-Williams will have a momentous task to beat Willetton’s 7 foot 2 inch (2.18m) “man mountain” Chris Christopherson who can pull in as many as 34 rebounds in any game.

Tip off time for the women is 6pm and for the men, 8pm.
