Two wins to Senators

THE Stirling Senators remains in the top half of the State Basketball League table following two victories at the weekend.

Despite having to make the long journey to Bunbury to take on the Southwest Slammers, the Senators proved too strong to run out 100-88 winners on Friday night.

The Slammers had no answer for the double-pronged visitors’ attack featuring Seb Salinas (32 points) and Edward Morris Jnr (29 points).

Stirling returned to their familiar home surrounds at the Warwick Leisure Centre for the second game of the weekend double-header, matching up against the lowly Rockingham Flames.

The Senators led from start to finish to record a convincing 120-109 win in a high-scoring encounter, with Salinas (34 points) again starring.

The pair of wins improves the Senators’ season record to 10-12 with three rounds remaining in the regular season.

In the women’s competition, Stirling’s horror season continued after a pair of losses at the weekend.

The side were no match for the Southwest Slammers in their trip to Bunbury, going down 47-76, before putting up a more competitive effort in a 61-75 home loss to Rockingham.

The results stretch Stirling’s losing streak to 11 games, with the side firmly anchored at the bottom of the table.
