Buccs look to get back on track against Giants

A WIN for the Buccs against the Goldfields Giants would cap off Matt Wundenberg's 150th appearance nicely.

The Buccs were knocked off second spot last week at home by the Giants who saw off Wanneroo Wolves by a point. A win tomorrow would claim back second in the table and give Ray Evans' men a big lift ahead of their two remaining home games before the finals.

The Buccs were caught on the hop against the Hawks when they failed to hold onto their lead, slumping to their third successive defeat. The dash to the finals is heating up like they have already begun with the Hawks, Wanneroo Wolves, Cockburn Cougars and the Giants all sticking out their elbows for second along with the Buccs. Whoever grabs second, gets home court advantage in the finals so there's plenty to play for. And coach Ray Evans is well aware of that. "Second spot is still up for grabs and compared to the finals it's a massive game for us," he said.

Buccs' forward Tom Witts said the team had been working hard to get their radars in check for tomorrow's game when speaking to the Guardian on Wednesday.

"Hopefully we can bounce back with a win. We've just got to stay positive and keep the ball moving. We've been a bit stagnant in offence, our defence has been doing well, we've just got to work on getting our shots off.," he said.

Last week the Buccs were hesitant to pull the trigger on the attack, an issue Evans will be keen for his players to put right tomorrow at the Neils Hansen Basketball Stadium. "Last week we gave up a couple of good looks, where we could have got a good shot and we didn't take them. So we've been working on that and our ball movement," he said.
