Week 18 SBL Previews & Expert Tips

SBL GM CJ Jackson is calling this the most exciting weekend of basketball this year, and our experts have everything covered for the viewers. Check out SBL.asn.au game previews and don't forget to compare your tips to the experts!

This weekend the WSBL Competition comes alive with the Wolves (9-10) holding onto the last playoff spot for dear-life while the Eagles (8-12) come flying up the ladder with Carly Wilson. Don't forget tonight's crucial battle between the Cougars (9-11) & Lightning (10-10) with the winner potentially stealing the 7th spot on the ladder.

At the other end of the table the Tigers (14-7) host the Flames (13-6) in a crucial battle to determine who will finish second. The Redbacks dropped to fourth with their surprise loss to the Eagles last weekend and will desperately want a win to potentially finish second on the ladder. While the Wolves travel to Eaton knowing they simply cannot afford to drop a game with the Eagles current form.

The Men's competition is just as exciting with the Flames holding onto any playoff aspirations by barely a thread in their match against playoff hopefuls Willetton Tigers. The Cougars desperately need to extend their 8 game win streak if they are to nab second spot from the Giants who have a tough double header weekend. The Giants face off against top of the table Lakeside on Saturday only to play the 5th placed Hawks who are on a four game winning streak on Sunday.

The Redbacks battle the Hawks at home knowing that if they can steal a win they will almost lock-up their first play-off appearance since 2005 under Head Coach Nick Lackovic. The Wolves travel to Eaton in a jostle for 5th and 6th place with the Hawks.

Also just as exciting is the Flames v Eastern Suns battle, if the Flames can knock off the Tigers on Friday they will come into this game knowing a win can put their finals dreams back on track, but losses to either the Tigers or Suns will burn their dreams. The Eastern Suns are one game behind the Redbacks/Senators and with both of those teams facing extremely tough tasks this weekend the Eastern Suns will want a win here to stay in touch before the final round.

The Senators are the best placed of the teams vying for the last two play-off spots however they face the Buccs in Geraldton. A tough task on the best of days, but the Buccs are on a four game losing streak and have lost second place. Is now a good time or a bad time to be facing the Buccs?
