Tigers v Giants Review

After a rollercoaster season, the fight for a finals birth ended last Saturday night in Kalgoorlie for the Tigers MSBL team.

It was always going to be a difficult task to beat the Goldfields Giants on their home court, especially as they have been growing stronger over the past few weeks. Unfortunately for the Tigers, the Giants hit the court with confidence and never looked back.

In a blistering start they set up a lead which reached 36 points mid way through the third quarter. The Tigers fought hard, but the obstacles were too high. In the third quarter Coach Parker brought his bench on court and they supplied a burst of youthful enthusiasm which refreshed the whole team.

Although time ran out the Tigers dug deep and with determination they fought to the end and brought the deficit back to 15 points with a 30 to 13 final quarter.

Game high scorer with 24 points and 11 rebounds was our captain Clint Read who has put in a stellar performance all season. Chris Christofferson worked hard with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks. In his last SBL game before heading to college in the USA, Jacob Reed chipped in 14 points and 5 assists.

This year was a challenging time for the Tigers, with many changes to the roster. We now look forward to the future and a stronger season next year to hopefully carry us into a finals berth and reach for the elusive championship.
