Week 19 PowerPlayer of the Week Announced

The State Basketball League has released the Week 19 PowerPlayer of the week awards. Each week thanks to PowerPlay Sports one Women’s and one Men’s SBL player is awarded the SBL PowerPlayer of the week award. The winner receives a $50 voucher for PowerPlay Sports in Subiaco.

Week Nineteen’s winner is Rockingham Flames & Perth Lynx forward Kaye Tucker. Tucker cemented third place for her side in their 75-61 win over the Joondalup City Wolves. Tucker had a strong all round game with 18 points (8/16 shooting from the field), 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Tucker has won the award previously in Week 4.

Also in strong consideration was Lakeside Lightning forward Natalie Young with her impressive 24 point and 5 rebound effort in her sides 65-57 win over the fast finishing Australian Central Eagles. Former Go for 2&5 Perth Lynx star Deanna Smith was also strong with 39 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists in 30 minutes in her side’s 92-57 win over the Carpet Court Slammers. 

Others in consideration for the Week 19 award were Shelley Boston (Magic), Allison Ramirez (Wolves), Elizabeth Cooke (Senators), Carly Wilson (Eagles), Narelle Henry (Redbacks), Brooke Hiddlestone (Redbacks, Casey Haggar (Flames), Samantha Norwood (Eastern Suns), Kate Fielding (Slammers) &Elizabeth Lennox (Slammers).

In the Men’s competition Southside Mitsubishi Redbacks star import Chris Lynch claimed the award for his massive effort in leading his side to the last playoff spot against rivals Stirling. Lynch starred with 50 points (63% shooting, including 6/9 from outside), 12 rebounds and 3 steals. His efforts got the Redbacks over the Senators 120-86 providing them with the 12+ point win required for a finals spot.

Adrian Majstrovich (Eastern Suns) & Tom Garlepp (Hawks) also had great games in Week 19. Majstrovich also led his side into the playoffs with their 121-103 win over the Carpet Court Slammers. Majstrovich starred with 42 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. In a 100-84 victory over the Senators Garlepp was equally as strong with 41 points, 14 rebounds & 5 assists.

Others that were considered for the award were Tom Remmeswaal (Magic), Marcus Moore (Wolves), Edward Morris Jr (Senators), Michael Le Blanc (Buccs), Douglas McLaughlin-Williams (Cougars), Shamus Ballantyne (Giants), Clint Read (Tigers), Jarrad Prue (Lightning), Jarrod Balcombe (Eagles), Joel Wagner (Redbacks), Damian Matacz (Wolves), David Clarkson (Flames) & Vincent James (Slammers).
