Mansfield to guide Suns Women

The Kalamunda Eastern Suns are excited to announce 2008 Women’s Co-Coach and current Perth Lynx WNBL assistant Craig Mansfield will return to the women’s program after spending the past 12 months in charge of the SBL Men.

Following the team having their most successful campaign to date with a 12-10 win/loss record in 2009, Mansfield is upbeat at the future as the team took eventual champions Willetton to three games in the semi final series.

“I’m excited to be coaching the Suns women and appreciative of the faith shown by the club in making this a multiple year relationship. I believe our program is in a unique position as we have a balance of experience and talented young players who are up and coming in our program” said Mansfield.

Speaking on the signing Association President Peter Hanson said “Craig brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and is passionate about delivering short and more importantly long term success to the program which is a key aspect of where we are heading and the sort of people we want involved at Kalamunda”

Mansfield has also coached the Under 16 WA Metro Women from 2007-2009, been Assistant Coach of the Go for 2&5 Lynx since the 2007-2008 season and had a stint in basketball’s heartland coaching with the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux women's program between 2003-2005 which eventuated into two NCAA tournament appearances.

Mansfield’s attention will now turn to confirming his roster in the coming months so if any players are interested in getting involved feel free to email Craig on sunswsbl@hotmail.com.

Stay tuned as more news is to come from the Suns in the near future.
