Summer domestic teams and information - update
Below are the Summer 2013 season Girls and Boys teams.
Team Composition
These teams have been composed by the Girls and Boys Domestic Composition Sub Committees.
Decisions were made after collating and reviewing players’ preferences, meetings with current coaches and team managers, and many hours of discussion and phone calls. We have tried to satisfy everyone’s requests and have managed to satisfy most. Apologies to those whom we couldn’t accommodate.
Team Managers and Coaches
Thank you to the many people who have volunteered to be coaches or team managers. We have also taken the liberty of assuming that some people who have coached or team managed previously will do so again. If we have presumed too much, please let us know!
We still have a number of gaps for coaches and team managers – if you can help out or suggest people who might be able to help please contact Megan Rouse
If you know of anyone else who is interested in joining a team, please refer them to Megan Rouse - don’t commit to a player joining a team without consultation. We already have some players waiting to join teams.
If you are coaching in the Summer:
- Please advise if there are any restrictions on your availability for coaching on Saturdays
If you are managing a team in the Summer, you will be emailed player and coach contact details by Saturday 6th October. You will also receive information about what you need to do in the first couple of weeks of team managing. Please be patient, most of the information the players in your team need to know will also be available on our or the EDJBA’s website! A team managers’ information night will be held early next term. This will be aimed primarily at new team managers. A team manager’s handbook is also available on this website.
First training and matches
Training will commence in the week beginning 8th October. Further information about training times will be available on the web site www.collingwood.basketball.net.au as soon as possible. Girls training will be on Monday nights and boys training will be on Thursday nights.
The first match is on Saturday 13th October. Fixtures for the first two rounds will be available on the EDJBA website late in the second week of the school holidays. Season dates are below. The game fee for matches is $6.50 per game.
Uniforms
Singlets. Any player who did not play in the Winter season will need to purchase a new singlet. Singlets will be on sale on Sunday, 7th October 11am – 4.00 pm in the gym foyer at Melbourne Girls College, Yarra Boulevard, Richmond (Melway 2H H8).
All players who need to purchase a singlet are encouraged to attend on this day. Players are more likely to have a choice of number if they attend, and it will be a great help to our volunteers if as many singlets as possible are sold at this time. Singlets are $50 and can be paid for by cash, cheque or credit or debit card. (This venue has been chosen as many club families will be there for the representative team tryouts).
Shorts will also be on sale at Melbourne Girls College on Sunday 7thOctober. Shorts are $40.
Singlets and shorts will also be in sale during the first week of term at times to be advised but families are encouraged to attend on the Sunday if possible.
