In good conditions, Bowls North's women's O/60's fours competition was held at the Invermay Bowls Club on Tuesday and Wednesday (Tues /Wed 13 & 14th Nov) In the Tuesday deciders 14 teams, representing seven Bowls North clubs. played off to determine which would front up in the Wednesday semi and grand finals
In the semi-finals the composite team of Exeter's Cheryl Jarvis (s), Barb Smith (North) and Sally Lees and Marion Derrick (Exeter) were defeated 17 - 19 by the composite side of Ruby Jamieson, Margaret Woodiwiss, Molly Howell (Cosgrove) and Pat Spencer (Kings Meadows).
After 21 ends, Deloraine and East were level on 16 - 16 apiece so an extra end was needed . East's Sally Redman (s), Maggie Campbell, Vivien Stagg and Margaret Pearce got the shot needed to defeat Deloraine's Robyn Miller (s), Maureen Buckingham, Lesley Laycock and Maxine Robins and head into the grand final .
In the 21 end grand final and with both teams bowling extremely well, Jamieson's team fought back from being 5 shots down on the 18th, to pick up 3 on the 19th, and one on the 20th and 21st respectively to win the game and the title by a single shot 19 - 18.
