CHALLENGER LEAGUE RESULTS 9th FEB 2013
With the “Flat Banger”.
Tiges too good for East yet again, Cressy topple Trevallyn in a great win for the country boys, Del City defeat another potential finalist in the Meadows at home on the synthetic and North flex their muscles over the Scottsdale boys…..yep another big week in Northern Bowls.

Cressy 78 d Trevallyn 65
HOWLY HOWLETT 33 d TOP GUN MULLIGAN 16
Great win this for Cressy with the old stager Howly Howlett showing yesteryears form consistently playing bomb after bomb whenever required. He converted at every opportunity and showed how good this man is when on song. He was able supported by his team who had bowls in the head every end. With the late pull out of “J” with an unknown injury and no forthcoming information from Mum due to my continually getting this great young man’s name spelt incorrectly I could not obtain the extent of the injury but I’m sure his flight over to the Essendon football club for treatment will see this bloke walking on water within the coming days.
SON OF KEV 24 d 4 BOUNCE PATTERSON 17
This one close all day until Rick and crew skipped away over the closing ends. Waddo solid in the 3’s spot, Macca McCarthy steady at 2 and the lead on fire consistently setting up end after end. From my man on the spot at this game a special mention must go to Grippo Connors who lead exceptionally well for Trevallyn from the 2’s position. Not sure what that means but I am sure someone will be talking to someone to clear this one up.
KEV BLOOD WILSON 21 lt AUSSIE MIKE 32
Firstly a big shout out to Kev Blood on a mighty effort to keep his team this close. Without him the score would have been far worse for the Cressy boys. Sachin and Johhny “Seatin not Standing” played solid from the get go to get this rink up and about early and Meat Tray Hudson chiming in with a great second half performance. I don’t know why they just don’t give Huddo a feed of meat before they start as the more raw snags he consumes the better this great man plays. Meanwhile as the game went on Aussie decided it was best for the team if he actually converted and added to counts which eventually happened much to his amazement.

Longford 76 d East Launceston 72
UP AND COMING SUPERSTAR ROACH 20 lt BOTHAM BANNON 22
A great game of bowls this one, tighter than a nuns %#%% (yep you get the picture) with this one coming right down to the last end. Best for the East Boys in this one was the “drawing machine” Chef Cambell, even with the wind blowing at almost 200 m/p/h, yep your typical Longford day, Donny still managed his usual 20 or so touches…..simply outstanding work…what a quiet achiever this bloke is. Birdman threw the kitty well on most occasions when he managed to get it in bounds, Bangers weight control was once again simply magic with the Longford crowd secretly hoping he played well, but he knows he has to play well with this lot and old Beefy Botham down the other end had one of those games where it could have been anything from brilliant to sensational but NOPE that dam inch more, that we all crave was all it took to stop me really rating this bloke again. You’ve heard of the Angry Birds well let me introduce you to Angry eyes…..simply frightening when this blokes eyes look clear through you when you play a bad one…..shudder shudder shudder . Special mention here to Chris Roach yet again, this blokes improvement is incredible and he simply could be anything if he keeps going the current way he is. Well done Junior Cock.  Thoroughly enjoyable day against a great bunch of guys.
DRIVING MACHINE ZAPPA 26 d WHERES THE BRE-FRITTER ROLLS SPRINGER 21
This rink proving vital for the Tiges over the closing ends. Zappa the stand out here with a driving exhibition worth seeing. The East boys had them there but simply couldn’t keep them as Zap proceeded to smash head after head clean off the green. Matty was nearly a late withdrawal after a wind gust picked him up and the greens roller and deposited them on the club house roof but Spence caught him on the way back down so all was good. Even Spence managed to get there on time so that clearly shows everyone how strong the tail wind from Launceston was. Senior Cock also performed to a high standard given the conditions and showed how consistent this bloke is on the lead.
PHARLAP STROCHNETTER 30 d BLACK CAVIAR SUMMERS 29
Dream matchup this. Tassie’s best against the current state champion….well worth the price of admission alone this one and the rowdy crowd certainly were there but they were sitting nearer the blokes who can play.
Another great game of bowls here with both Horses converting away at a rapid rate of knots and at one stage we though Cactus Lane may have to start taking the shoes and socks off to count the numbers when the scoreboards ran out. (Scary when the Cactus is the smartest bloke in the combined rinks but we all know they breed them smart down Mifton way.)  Brucey stood tall for Pharlap in this one (yep even I giggled at that) after realising that the wind can in fact pick people up into the air if they are 4ft or under. The old stager played many telling bowls and you can just see in this man’s eye that he is seriously ready for another crack at a title. Prez and Super Sub Jacko also contributing here for the cream of Horses.

Deloraine 77 d Kings Meadows 66
WOBBLE SHOT BOWMAN 19 lt I’M IN FORM McKay 27
Once again the Freddy troop came out on top…..seems that every midget playing the game is on fire at the minute. Little Pip AGAIN having a great day in the leads spot…..have a chat to your old man little Pip maybe you could give him a few pointers. Super sub Munting steady at 2 and my man Zoooosssssshhhhhhhhnnnnnnneeeeeeerrrrrr relishing his opportunity at 3 and showed once again that he is a man on the rise and even the “no mat tossing little Pig” converted at will as he has for the past 3 or 4 weeks…..tick tick mate only 2 weeks away.
WELL LUBED UP PIGEON 24 lt ABOUT TIME I SKIPPED PAGE 27
In the first half “WOW WEE” how good was the Pigeon with the Meadows boys holding multiples only to see the Pidg flap his little wings with those horrible horrible tattoos and resurrect the situation for the Del City boys. The Meadows boys continued on bowling consistently and got the better of them in the end. The whole rink contributing in this one with Muscles Burnie leading well, Dougie rock solid at 2, Zoony good in his new position at 3 and Page Boy awesome over the last 5 ends converting 2 consecutive 5’s to help swing the result to the Meadows.
I’LL CARRY YAS ALL MITCHELL 34 d PINK SPOTTED BOWLS MURRAY 12
The Deloraine boys simply way too consistent in this one with Matty M outstanding drawing shot after shot and conversion after conversion. The Town Sherriff and Smiley Miller good here for the Deloraine boys also. Kiwi on the coke (no not the Essendon related type stuff) the drink, all day mmm somebody’s had a night out on a Friday oh dear oh dear this never ever happened with me!! How was the form? Mmm stayed down on the mat I bet ya…..good work my foreign friend.

North Georgetown 99 d Scottsdale 47
STARTING TO WARM UP BAKER 28 d TINY TEX CASSIDY 23
Well the move of the Big Ad to this rink has proved a winner (tick for the TOE) and they are up up and away. Adam playing his vast array of shot making in this one to help get the job done over the hard to beat Tex Man. Og with the non-bending concrete rocks wide at 2 (mmm questions are being asked whether he will continue using them) but stuff them all Og as I rate ya. Andy “I luv the Toe” back leading and leading well and Brodes playing all the big shots he had to saw the North boys home by the lazy handful.
$2000 MAN BARRETT 27 d JAKE THE PEG IHNEN 19
This bloke must get sick of winning and after shouting his team mates for the 2nd week running on anything they wanted to consume he proceeded to put yet another Barrett clinic on. This bugger can sure play and when you have Howie 3ing for you playing very similar, Air Vent about it on a consistent basis and the Bouch man leading up a storm who can actually stop this mob…..GOOD LUCK….thats about all I can say re this merry band of men.
CAREER BEST FORM MINNS 44 d TORN BEYOND RECOGNITION CARTLEDGE 5
Andy Whitmore’s comments about this bloke being too old have well and truly bit him in the ass as the Toe has gone on a scoring rampage in this one. He simply has sent a warning out to all opposition “you’re in for a tough day if ya draw me”. This man converted at will as well as adding at a rapid rate of knots and conceding only 5 single shot ends. Stuey Coner set them up from end 1, Miles 2ing in the area and Tiny Tut on fire AT 3 saw this one a mass blow out, but rest easy Chris it happens to everyone at some stage and no doubt you will bounce back bigger and better next week.

Well that’s it for this week bowls fans.

There is STILL only 1 and I will always be it.
