There are currently insufficient artificial hockey fields in Canterbury to cater for the demand from existing and potential participants to play hockey. To remedy this situation two additional fields must be developed in the near future. As each field will cost approximately $1.5 million to develop, a range of fundraising activities will be undertaken and the support of the Canterbury public is essential.
The Canterbury Hockey Association (CHA) is a non-profit incorporated society and the regional sport organisation responsible for delivery of the sport of hockey in the province. As such, the organisation has a responsibility to actively lead the process of securing funds for the development of additional fiends. The “Artificial Hockey Field Lottery” was an initiative used to assist in raising required funds.
All proceeds of the lottery were donated to the Canterbury Artificial Surfaces Trust. This charitable trust is committed to developing the additional hockey fields required by the sport of hockey now and in the future.
