Porritt Park is the home of the Canterbury Hockey Association. Its administration offices are located at the park, along with two artificial playing fields and a grandstand. The playing fields are both water-based and are of an international standard. Whenever Christchurch hosts national or international matches they are played at Porritt Park.
The hockey facilities at Porritt Park were first established for the 1974 Commonwealth Games. Since then the ground has undergone further development with the installation of two artificial fields - Porritt 1 in 1989 and Porritt 2 in 2002. Hopefully in the future additional artificial fields will be developed within the 10 hectares of Porritt Park.
