2010 V/LINE CUP – THE BEST OF THE BEST
The WorkSafe Victorian Country Football League (VCFL) and V/Line would like to congratulate the 25 players and 6 umpires that have made the Team of the 2010 V/Line Cup.
Glenn Scott, CEO of the VCFL said that the V/Line Cup is the showcase under 15 country championships for VCFL players, that brings together the best 500 players to Melbourne each year to compete against each other.
“Considering that roughly 9,000 players are competing in the VCFL at under 15 or under 14 level in 2010 as well as over 1,000 VCFL developing umpires, it really is a remarkable achievement to make this team as a player or umpire”, Scott said.
Shayne Ward, Planning, Facilities and Junior Football Manager acknowledged the wonderful support that V/Line provided to junior football and umpiring in the VCFL, that includes the support of the V/Line Cup, junior interleague matches, life training sessions in addition to umpiring academies and development programs.
“The VCFL and V/Line hold high hopes that these players and umpires may one day follow in the steps of some others who have been selected in this team go on to fame in the AFL. In any case, we wish them a long and satisfying involvement with their WorkSafe VCFL club or umpiring group”, Ward also stated.
