WELCOME TO THE GDFL
In Round 6 of the GDFL the planned broadcast game was unfortunately shifted from Geelong West to the North Geelong v Corio game due to technical difficulties. Whilst unfortunate the game did not disappoint with the Devils jumping out of the gates the better against a sluggish looking North. As radio special comments man Grubby Cations has been saying, Corio definitely are showing signs of being finals contenders, but they could not maintain the pace after ¾ time and North Geelong ran away with a 35 point win.
Out at Winchelsea, the Anakie Roo’s took the points in a solid away from home win and slipped into the five thanks to an all over the ground effort. Up at Werribee the Centurions had to fight off a determined effort by the Hawks in the wake of the removal of coach Dale Smyth. A 6 goals to 2 last quarter saw Centrals home by 9 points.
The Panthers train rolled on this time at Godfrey St with the Hill accounting for Thomson by 82 points. In the aborted broadcast match the young Bannockburn side turned its form around again accounting for the rising Geelong West bringing the Cheetahs back to reality by 23 points. And in the final game saw Belmont Lions give Eat Geelong a big fright, but the return of Ricky O’Toole with 7 goals gave East a 5 goal win
