1. Players
a) All players within the competition are to registered with the Geelong & District Football Netball League and with the Victorian Netball Association (V.N.A).
If any player is found not to have a current VNA and they take the court, the player and club will both receive a fine. If the player has not received her card at that time, she must show a receipt from the association where the VNA was purchased.
Penalty $50 fine per club and $50 fine per player.
b) The league must receive all club affiliation and team registration money before the season commences.
Penalty $50 fine per club per team registration not paid.
c) All players must be registered on registration sheets supplied by the league. Birth Certificates/Extracts to be sighted & number to be recorded & signed by Club Netball Co-ordinator.
G&DFNL registration sheets and V.N.A. registration sheets must be submitted before first game of the season.
Penalty $50 fine for every week there after that registration is not complete.
d) Any new player not registered by the first game of season shall be registered on an official GDFNL Registration form and included in the match day paperwork, the first time they play.
Penalty $50 fine per club for each player unregistered.
e) A player can only play in two (2) games per day.
f) A player must play in at least sixteen (16) quarters with that team to qualify for finals. Where teams play less than 75% of the maximum number of fixture games, then a pro rata system will apply. Scoresheets must be filled in accordingly.
Penalty Ineligibility to play finals.
g) A player once qualified in a higher grade may not play in a lower grade ie. After twenty eight (28) quarters. (Example: a player once qualified in A grade may not play in B Grade)
Penalty: In the event of it winning the game they will, forfeit all match points and scored goals and be subject to a fine to be set by the league executive.
In the event of it losing the game they will, forfeit all scored goals and be subject to a fine to be set by the league executive.
The opposing club shall be awarded the match points and retains its scored goals.
h) All players, coaches and officials shall conduct themselves in a manner, which is conductive to the required standard of the G&DFNL competition and Netball Victoria. If any person does not keep within the accepted code of behaviour, after appropriate warnings, then that person can be reported to the Executive Committee. (See section 14).
2. Juniors
(a) Ages for juniors to be as at the thirty first (31st) December in the year of current season.
Penalty: In the event of it winning the game they will, forfeit all match points and scored goals and be subject to a fine to be set by the league executive.
In the event of it losing the game they will, forfeit all scored goals and be subject to a fine to be set by the league executive.
The opposing club shall be awarded the match points and retains its scored goals.
(b) All participants of the senior competition must be fourteen (14) years of age or older.
Penalty: In the event of it winning the game they will, forfeit all match points and scored goals and be subject to a fine to be set by the league executive.
In the event of it losing the game they will, forfeit all scored goals and be subject to a fine to be set by the league executive.
The opposing club shall be awarded the match points and retains its scored goals.
(c) A junior may play 1 junior and 1 senior game or 2 junior or 2 senior games during the home and away season in accordance with current rules 1f and 1g. The amount of junior quarters played will not affect the amount of senior quarters played.
Penalty: In the event of it winning the game they will, forfeit all match points and scored goals and be subject to a fine to be set by the league executive.
In the event of it losing the game they will, forfeit all scored goals and be subject to a fine to be set by the league executive.
The opposing club shall be awarded the match points and retains its scored goals.
(d) To be eligible for finals, all juniors must qualify as per 1 (f).
Penalty: In the event of it winning the game they will, forfeit all match points and scored goals and be subject to a fine to be set by the league executive.
In the event of it losing the game they will, forfeit all scored goals and be subject to a fine to be set by the league executive.
The opposing club shall be awarded the match points and retains its scored goals.
(e) Our 13 & under section is a modified mixed competition and boys eligible for 13 and
Under may play. (ie. allows 12 & 13 year boys to participate).
Teams may have up to 3 boys on court at any one time. If three (3) are on court at one time they must play in separate thirds of the court. If two (2) or more boys are on court at one time they must play in separate thirds of the court, ie one as GS or GA, one as C, WA or WD, one as GD or GK
Penalty: In the event of it winning the game they will, forfeit all match points and scored goals and be subject to a fine to be set by the league executive.
In the event of it losing the game they will, forfeit all scored goals and be subject to a fine to be set by the league executive.
The opposing club shall be awarded the match points and retains its scored goals.
3. Teams
(a) All clubs must endeavour to field their senior sections from A grade down eg. A grade and then B grade and then C Grade and then D Grade. All clubs must endeavour to field three junior sides e.g. 17& Under, 15 & Under and 13 & Under.
(b) If Clubs are struggling to field any of these teams, then a letter explaining their situation should be forwarded to the Netball Administrator as soon as the situation arises. Until the Netball Administrator acknowledges receipt of the letter and a course of action has been agreed, all clubs are expected to field their registered teams.
Penalty Fine of $100 to offending club.
4. Transfers
(a) A clearance is required if a player wishes to transfer to another Club/Team during the current season.
(b) No player will be granted more than one (1) clearance per season.
(c) Transfers close on 30th June, each year.
(d) Players who owe outstanding playing fees or are in possession of Club/Team property (uniform, equipment) will not be granted a clearance.
(e) A player must have received notification in writing from the League before playing for a new Club/Team.
Penalty: In the event of it winning the game they will, forfeit all match points and scored goals and be subject to a fine to be set by the league executive.
In the event of it losing the game they will, forfeit all scored goals and be subject to a fine to be set by the league executive.
The opposing club shall be awarded the match points and retains its scored goals.
(f) The player must complete all details on the top section of the clearance form and send to the GDFL Netball Association Administrator.
(g) The GDFL Netball Association to forward the clearance request to the existing Club/Team for approval.
(h) The existing Club/Team has 7 days to complete the clearance or the GDFL Netball Association will automatically clear the player to the new Club/Team.
(i) If the Club/Team refuses to clear the player (refer: conditions of clearance), the Association/League will write to the player advising the reason why and forward a copy to both Clubs. Any dispute arising from clearance restrictions will be dealt with according to the Netball Victoria grievance procedure.
(j) The existing Club/Team to advise the GDFL Netball Association when clearance is approved.
(k) The player will then receive a letter advising that the clearance has been approved and copy is forwarded to both Clubs/Teams.
5. Uniforms
NB: The Netball Administrator must be notified (in writing) of any difficulty in complying with uniform standards. Permission (in writing) must be obtained by the clubs before the commencement of the first round.
(a) Teams must be in club colors.
(b) All players to be in correct uniform by the first match.
Penalty: May not take the court until rectified.
(c) Teams are permitted to wear sports briefs matching their uniforms if the whole club compiles, otherwise black sports briefs are to be worn.
Penalty May not take the court until rectified.
(d) No bikini pants, see through pants, slacks, bike pants or tracksuit pants are permitted, except on the grounds of medical condition upon receipt of a doctor’s certificate signed by a qualified medical practitioner, or religious and cultural reasons upon application to the committee of management in writing..
Penalty: May not take the court until rectified.
e) Bibs must display Worksafe patches on the front and back.
Penalty May not take the court until rectified.
(f) Windcheaters in club colours may be worn. Coloured socks, if the whole club complies, may be worn.
Penalty: May not take the court until rectified.
(g) Shirts must be tucked in skirts.
Penalty: May not take the court until rectified.
(h) Skirts may not contain club badges or any other form of advertising.
Penalty: May not take the court until rectified.
(i) Nails must be short and smooth or taped over and around with suitable tape, to umpire’s satisfaction.
Penalty: May not take the court until rectified.
(j) Appropriate sport shoes must be worn.
Penalty: May not take the court until rectified.
(k) Gloves may be worn only if the player has a Doctor’s certificate and nails still need to be short and smooth or taped underneath the gloves. The doctor’s certificate must be shown to the umpire for approval and included in the matchday paperwork for the Netball Administrator. Notification to all Clubs of who has been given permission to wear gloves.
(l) Sunglasses may be worn but you need to keep in mind that the Rules of Netball state that: “No adornment that may endanger safety shall be worn”, when selecting your sunglasses. Choose a pair that has minimal protruding frames and lenses, and always consider the safety of all participants when selecting a pair. Common sense should always prevail.
*** NOTE *** The style of sunglasses should also be considered; wrap-around, close fitting styles prevent more UV from reaching the eyes. Lenses to be used when playing sport should be made of polycarbonate or CR39 material, and not glass. This material is virtually unbreakable and will sustain any impact, such as a netball, or body parts from another player. In comparison, glass will often shatter upon impact and has the potential to cause serious damage to players.
6. Coaching
(a) All Coaches and Assistant Coaches, (Junior and Senior) must have obtained, or be in the process of obtaining a Coaches Accreditation, during the season in which they Coach. The coach must sit the Umpire’s theory exam in May or September of that year, if they have not already completed this exam. League to be informed as this occurs. All coaches must have a current V.N.A. membership card.
Penalty: Not eligible to coach in GDFL the following year.
(b) At no time during a match (including intervals) are coaches to approach umpires. Any discussion made with the umpires must be made by the captain.
Penalty $100 fine to offending coach.
(c) All coaches names, address, qualifications and VNA numbers to be handed to Netball Administrator before the first game of the season.
Penalty: Ineligible to coach until details received by League.
7. Scoring
(a) All on court changes and ¼ played for each player must be shown on the scoreboards and must be signed by the umpires, scorers and captains at the end of the match.
(b) A scorer from each club must be supplied for each team playing prior to the commencement of the game, a timekeeper also to be provided by home team.
Penalty: $20 fine to offending club.
(c) The Time keeper will sit with the official scorer. The timekeeper must walk behind the umpire no less than 15 seconds before the end of each quarter including the end of the game.
(d) Scorecards must be legible with correct spelling and full names.
Penalty: $20 fine to offending club.
(e) Scorers and Timekeepers must be 14 years or over.
Penalty: $10 fine to offending club.
(f) Four (4) Premiership points will be awarded for a win in the Home & Away matches.
Two (2) Premiership points will be awarded to each side in the event of drawn home & away matches.
Four (4) Premiership points will be awarded for a Bye.
Two (2) Premiership points will be awarded to each side in the event of abandoned due to weather, or equipment fault before half time.
Four (4) Premiership points will be awarded to the team in front (ie. score will stand) in the event of a game abandoned due to weather or equipment fault after half time.
(g) On match day the Home club is responsible for faxing or delivering the results to the G&DFNL headquarters by 6p.m.
Penalty: $20 fine if not faxed, or delivered on time.
(h) ALL Score cards and Best &Fairest votes to be delivered by midday the Monday after each game to: G&DFNL Office, Fellmongers Road, Breakwater. Home clubs are responsible for getting the necessary paperwork to the venue on time.
Penalty: $100 fine if not delivered, or not delivered on time.
(i) The official score card and timing device must, at all times, be placed in full view of the persons acting as scorers and time-keepers during matches.
8. Matches
(All playing rules will be those of the Australian Netball Association rules unless stated in these bylaws).
(a) Junior matches are to consist of four (4) ten (10) minute quarters, with one (1) minute intervals between first (1st) and second (2nd) quarters and third (3rd) and fourth (4th) quarters, and with two (2) minutes between second (2nd) and (3rd) quarter.
D, C and B Grade matches are to consist of four (4) twelve (12) minute quarters, with one (1) minute intervals between first (1st) and second (2nd) quarters and third (3rd) and fourth (4th) quarters, and with three (3) minutes between second (2nd) and (3rd) quarter.
A Grade matches are to consist of four (4) fifteen (15) minute quarters, with two (2) minute intervals between first (1st) and second (2nd) quarters and third (3rd) and fourth (4th) quarters, and with four (4) minutes between second (2nd) and (3rd) quarter.
(b) Matches are to be played at the following times:
13 & Under : 8.45a.m.
15 & Under : 9.35a.m.
17 & Under : 10.25a.m.
D Grade: 11.15a.m.
C Grade: 12.10p.m.
B Grade : 1.05p.m.
A Grade : 2.00p.m.
(c) All games must be played on a Netball Victoria approved outdoor court.
(d) The Home Captain shall do the tossing of the coin, visiting Captain shall call.
(e) The names up to 12 players, one of whom shall be the Captain, must be provided to the scorers before the start of the game. Players who are not named on the score sheet before the start of the game cannot be added and cannot take the court once the game has commenced.
Penalty: In the event of it winning the game they will, forfeit all match points and scored goals and be subject to a fine to be set by the league executive.
In the event of it losing the game they will, forfeit all scored goals and be subject to a fine to be set by the league executive.
The opposing club shall be awarded the match points and retains its scored goals.
(f) Any team failing to be ready to start play on time, after five (5) minutes, forfeit five (5) goals to the opposition, and a further goal per minute until ten (10) minutes. A walkover shall then be declared, providing the opposing team has five (5) or more players present.
-Players who umpire MUST be given time to change between games, conditions of a walkover do not apply. Players who umpire MUST not delay between games.
(g) In the event of a walkover, a ten (10) goal to nil (0) score will stand in favour of the non-offending team. The offending side cannot submit a team sheet however the non offending side can submit a team sheet with a minimum of five (5) and maximum of seven (7) players.
Penalty: A $20 fine will be imposed on the offending club.
(h) If conditions are considered dangerous, then the umpires shall call a ten (10) minute break. Then after the break, the umpires shall consult with members of the Executive of both clubs as to their opinion. A decision will then be made by the two (2) umpires as to the future of the game.
** NOTE: CLUBS DO NOT MAKE THE FINAL DECISION AS TO WHETHER THE GAME IS ABANDONED.
If only one match is being played at the time and there are two courts available, the other court can be considered.
- A decision made by two (2) umpires to abandon a game due to weather, must be recorded on the Score card as to when and at which stage of the game.
(i) In the event of equipment fault the umpires shall consult with members of the umpires as to whether the game can be continued on the adjacent court or abandoned.

(j) Each club is responsible for supplying netballs (regulation size) to each of its teams.
(k) Home clubs to have ice available, at courtside.
(l) Playing Area Safety Checklist
Checklist to be completed before any games played. There may be a need to review this checklist throughout the day. Playing Area Safety Checklist forms are provided to each club by the GDFL. A copy of the completed checklist must be submitted in the Match Day paper work envelope.
9. Rescheduled Matches.
(a) Times of Home & Away matches can only be changed after seeking approval from the Executive Committee. If approval is not given set times must be adhered to.
(b) (b) Clubs may appeal to the Executive Committee to have games rescheduled if they have 3 or more players in that grade involved e.g. state championships, zone tournaments etc, by submitting (in writing) the names of players involved and the teams they play in.
(c) All rescheduled games for the current season will be played within fifteen (15) days of the scheduled game OR premiership points will be shared.
(d) Umpires’ must be advised immediately of rescheduled matches.
10. Awards
(a) All Best & Fairest votes shall be awarded by the umpires on the G&DFNL supplied card. The vote card is to signed by both umpires. Placed in the envelope provided and signed again across the seal. Votes must be given as 3,2 and 1 followed by the full name of the player and club.
- Failure to do so results in an invalid votes.
(b) All Best & Fairest votes shall be included in the same envelope as the score cards.
Penalty $20 fine to offending club.
(c) Best & Fairest trophies shall be awarded to the player who receives the highest number of votes in each section.
Runner-up trophies shall be awarded to the player who receives the second highest number of votes in each section.
In the event of a draw for either trophies, joint trophies shall be awarded.
The Executive Committee shall be responsible for the counting
of Best & Fairest votes.
The Executive Committee shall be responsible for awarding Best & Fairest trophies.
(d) Best & Fairest votes transfer with a player who transfers from one club to another.
(e) A Club Championship trophy shall be awarded to the netball club who wins the most Home & Away games. An overall (Football & Netball) Club Championship trophy will also be awarded by the League.
(f) A team who has won every game during the season shall be declared Champions. Does not include drawn games. They must win all games.
(g) A trophy will be awarded to the player who throws the most goals in the home and away season in each grade. In the event of a draw for either trophies, joint trophies shall be awarded
(h) A trophy will be awarded to the player voted by the umpires as the Best in the Final series for each grade. In the event of a draw for either trophies, joint trophies shall be awarded.
(i) A trophy will be awarded to the player voted by the umpires as the Best in the Grand Final for each grade. In the event of a draw for either trophies, joint trophies shall be awarded.
(j) A premiership/championship cup will be presented to the winning team on Grand Final day. All players and coaches in the winning side will receive a medallion on the day.
11. Umpires.
(a) Panel Umpires will be allocated to A and B grade matches each week.
(b) Club umpires are not permitted to coach the team for which they are umpiring. If, in an emergency, a coach needs to umpire his/her team then a substitute coach must take over.
(c) Must have or do a Theory exam / Introduction to umpiring during season.
(d) Umpires shall not be changed during a game, except in exceptional circumstances.
(e) One umpire from each club shall make up the two (2) umpires who officiate at each C grade and Junior game.
(f) Trainee umpires may have a badged umpire running with them, in junior games ONLY.
(g) Shall ensure that teams abide by the Competition Rules-
- Correct Uniform
- No Jewellery. Wedding bands and/or medic alert bracelets and studs are allowed but must be taped to umpires discretion.
- Nails short and smooth or taped
(h) Shall register votes on official competition vote cards. The vote card is to be signed by both umpires, placed in a sealed envelope and signed again across the seal. Votes must be given as 3, 2 or 1. Unsigned cards will be invalid.
(i) If the game is abandoned before half time no votes will be given, if the game is abandoned after half time, votes must be given, regardless of the reason and included in the Best & Fairest count.
(j) Umpires must sign any corrections or alterations to the score card.
(k) Umpires must sign the Score card after the game when –
- they have checked the score
- check that both Captains have signed
- checked and initialled substitute players.
Penalty $10 fine to club whose umpires do not comply.
(l) Must supply their own whistles and clubs must have a current rule book and spare white skirt at the court.
(m) Club umpires shall be dressed appropriately in umpires’ attire; white t/shirt or jumper, white socks, skirts, correct sports shoes. White tracksuits, pants and rain jacket are permitted.
(n) Umpires are only allowed to umpire 2 consecutive games on any given match day. An umpire is allowed to have a one match break and then return and umpire another match.
(o) A minimum of two umpires from each club must attend the umpires meetings/training during the season.
Penalty: $50 per umpire for non attendance. (Max $100)
12. General Meetings
(a) There will be at least six meetings, to be held on the last Wednesday of delegated months unless notified. At least one (preferably two) representatives from each club must attend. Each affiliated club is entitled to one vote.
(Meeting Months: January, February, March, June, August and October).
Penalty $100 fine for non – attendance.
(b) If a Special General Meeting is necessary 25% off all affiliated clubs need to call it.
(c) Any recommendations for rule changes or amendments are to be made at the October meeting only. Recommendations must be sent to the administrator fourteen (14) days before the October meeting. All recommendations approved will then be forwarded to the GDFL League Executive for ratification at there AGM in November.
13. Finals
(a) The coin shall be tossed by the Captain whose team finished highest at the end of the Home & Away games. Winner of the toss shall have choice of end or centre pass.
(b) If any final is drawn, there shall be a break of two (2) minutes, during which time there may be substitutions and/or team changes with 7minutes each end for 15 minute quarter matches. For 10 or 12 minute quarter matches there shall be a break of two minutes during which time there may be substitutions and/or team changes with 5 minutes each end. (Netball Victoria rule change).
If the game is still drawn, play continues, with no change of ends or players until one team is two (2) clear goals ahead.
(c) A senior player is only permitted to play one game per final weekend. A player, if qualified as in 1(f) and (g), may play a different grade on the following weekend.
a junior player is eligible to play in two finals, 1 junior & 1 senior or 2 juniors on the same weekend, as long as they are qualified as per 1(f) and 1(g).
d) Juniors can play 1 junior and one senior grand final in same day if qualified as per 1 (f) and 1 (g).
(e) Presentations will be made at the conclusion of each game.

(g) All clubs will be responsible for various duties ( as advised by the Netball Administrator) during the finals.
Penalty $50 per club / per person
(h) Playing times for finals are to be determined by the Executive.
(i) No alcohol is permitted at the courts.
(j) In the event of a team not being able to contest in a final – a walk-over will be declared.
(k) Team officials are responsible for filling in - Score card
- Player information for finals series form (fifteen (15) minutes prior to commencement of game).
- (l) Finals matches will be played regardless of weather conditions, although time delays may occur. If conditions are considered too dangerous, then the umpires shall call a ten(10) minute break. Then after the break, the umpires shall consult with the Executive Committee as to their opinion.
A decision will then be made by the two (2) umpires as to the future of the game. A decision made by the two (2) umpires to abandon a game due to weather, must be recorded on the score sheet as to when and at which stage of the game.
Alternative arrangements will then be made by the Executive Committee.
(m) Each game will be individually timed. The timekeeper shall indicate the completion of the quarters by walking behind the umpire 15 seconds before the end of each quarter and at the end of the game. At no time are the scorers or timekeepers to be approached during a match to clarify scores. It is the responsibility of the captain ONLY to approach officials at the intervals or after the match.
(n) Blood Policy and Injury Rules must be adhered to during matches (refer to the Official Rules 7.1 & 7.2). At no time is a player allowed to leave the court unless directed by the Umpire/Coach/Physiotherapist so that clarification of the bleeding/injury can be assessed.
(o) Team sheets for finals are to be emailed to Administrator by 8p.m. every Thursday before the final.
(p) A list of officials and their VNA numbers, who will make up the bench during finals must be lodged with the Administrator, before the start of the finals for all teams participating. Bench can consist of Coach, Assistant Coach, Manager and up to two medical staff (i.e. qualified doctors or trainers).
14. Reports/Tribunals.
(a) The Committee will impose the prescribed penalty or any other penalty to any member that fails to adhere to this By-law.
(b) Any member of a team or Club which does not agree with a penalty or action of the Committee made under this By-law, may advise the Committee within 48 hours of the penalty or decision being made.
(c) The Committee may then:
(i) discuss the issue with the relevant team or Club and make a decision regarding the matter. The Committee shall inform the party/ies involved of their decision either verbally or in writing; or
(ii) have an informal meeting with the relevant party/ies in order to discuss and resolve the dispute.
Penalty: Suspension and/or fine at discretion of tribunal.
(Automatic suspension for non-appearance)
The Committee’s decision is final.
15. Risk Management.
(a) Injury Reporting.
All Clubs are responsible for recording all injuries at the discretion of the injured player or players’ guardian (if aged under 18) on an Injury Reporting Sheet. Clubs are to store the sheets.
(b) Pregnancy – as per Netball Victoria Infonet RM1 – Pregnancy & Netball (available at www.netballvic.com.au)
(c) Codes of Behaviour – The GDFL Netball will adopt Codes of Behaviour as prescribed in the Netball Victoria Member Protection Regulation.
(f) Heat Policy
In the event of extreme weather conditions above 28 degrees, the following steps must be taken:
All quarters will be reduced and breaks extended by the following:
13, 15 & 17 & Under - 7 minute quarters, 3 minute ¼ & ¾ Breaks, 5 minute ½ time break
C & D Grade - 7 Minutes quarters, 3 minute ¼ & ¾ Breaks, 5 minute ½ time break
B Grade - 9 minute quarters, 4 minute ¼ & ¾ Breaks, 5 minute ½ time break
A Grade - 12 minute quarters, 5 minute ¼ & ¾ Breaks, 7 minute ½ time break
In the event of weather conditions of over 35 degrees, it will be up to the discretion of the two clubs and umpires as to weather games will go ahead.
Please ensure that sunscreen is readily available courtside for players and umpires.
(g) Photography / Video Footage
No photographs or video footage is to be taken at junior matches without the consent of the opposing coach or team manager.
Clubs will be given a list of teams within the League that may not be photographed under any circumstances.
16. Miscellaneous
(a) G&DFNL shall not be held liable for any injury to any player/s, official/s or spectator/s. All players, coaches, officials and spectators participate at their own risk.
(b) Each Thursday night prior to match day the clubs need to email through their team selections to the Netball Administrator, the Media Officer and the Geelong Advertiser. Exemptions will be made for clubs playing on Thursday night.
Penalty $20 fine if not delivered, or delivered on time.
17. Special Circumstances/Provisions Clause
Where the bylaw is silent, a decision can be made that ensures the integrity of the GDFL Netball Association is maintained at all times.
The League Executive may in using its reasonable discretion, in exceptional or extenuating circumstances, alter, vary or waive the requirements set out in this bylaw relating to the GDFL Netball Association.
APPENDIX 1
STATE PLAYERS
1. If any G&DFNL player is fortunate enough to play in a Victorian State Team, whether it be Open or Under – age, then the G&DFNL shall help off-set her costs. If finances are available in the G&DFNL, a player registered in the competition for two (2) years or more can receive a maximum sponsorship of $200. If the player has been with the competition for less than two (2) years, then the Executive Committee can decide upon a figure of $100 or less, depending on the player’s contribution to the competition during the game.
APPENDIX 2
INTERLEAGUE & TOURNAMENTS
1. It shall be decided by the Executive Committee as to whether the G&DFNL will enter teams into the Netball Competitions held by the Netball Victoria.
2. The Netball Administrator shall advertise within the competition for coaches and managers for the teams prior to the April General Meeting.
3. The Executive Committee shall choose coach and manager, which shall be announced as soon as possible after applications close.
4. If no coaches from within the competition apply. Outside nominations shall be invited.
SELECTIONS TRIALS
1. Once coaches have been obtained, selection trials for the Senior grades shall be held as early in the G&DFNL season as is deemed possible. A junior tournament will be held in March to choose our age group sides.
2. Invitations shall be sent to players by the Netball Administrator from suggestions made by clubs. (Seniors only)
3. Selected players are expected to attend all training sessions.
4. A maximum of twelve (12) players per team shall be selected.
SELECTION PANEL
1. The Selection Panel shall consist of the appointed coach, one Executive Committee member, and one or more invited selector, preferably from outside the competition.
EXPENSES
1. Once the teams have been selected, the Netball Administrator shall be responsible for organising uniforms, umpires, and transport if necessary.
PRESENTATION OF UNIFORMS
1. If agreed upon by the Executive Committee, a small presentation ceremony shall be held prior to the first tournament where uniforms shall be presented to each participating player, coach, manager and umpire.
TRANSPORT
1. Players, Coaches, Umpires and other officials selected for the tournaments/interleague are to arrange their own transport unless otherwise advised by the League Executive.
CONDUCT
1. All players, coaches and officials shall conduct themselves in a manner, which is conductive to the standard of the G&DFNL.
2. If any person does not keep within the accepted code of behaviour then that person will be asked to meet with the Executive Committee to explain their actions. If the Executive Committee deems it necessary, that player will no longer represent the G&DFNL competition and if it is extremely serious, then the player may be asked to leave the G&DFNL competition at club level also.
3. An Idemnity Form must be completed by each player and official before they will be allowed to compete with the G&DFNL.
COACH
1. Duties -
· Be a role model
· Abide by the codes of healthy behaviour as adopted by Netball Victoria.
Do not engage in practices which affect sporting performances (alcohol, tobacco, drugs …)whilst representing the G&DFNL.
· Attend selection trials.
· Prepare a training schedule.
· Liaise with Netball Administrator regarding training requirements (venue, umpires, practice match’s) selection of Captains and Vice Captains.
MANAGER
1. Act as Senior member of the team group and to be responsible for the welfare of the coach and players. (NB All matters pertaining to the team should be done in consultation with the coach).
2. The manager must also have a current V.N.A. membership card.
3. Duties –
· Be a role model
· Abide by the codes of healthy behaviour as adopted by Netball Victoria. Do not engage in practices which affect sporting performances (alcohol, tobacco, drugs…) whilst representing the G&DFNL.
· Attend selection trials.
· Liase with coach regarding training requirements (venue, umpires, practice match’s) selection of Captains and Vice Captains.
· Take responsibility for G&DFNL uniforms.
PLAYER
1. Player must have a current V.N.A. member ship card.
2. Present for selections. If unable to attend, notify the Netball Administrator in writing prior to the selections requesting an exemption.
3. Be a role model.
4. Abide by the codes of healthy behaviour as adopted by Netball Victoria. Do not engage in practices which affect sporting performances (alcohol, tobacco, drugs…) whilst representing the G&DFNL.
5. Attend all training sessions. Notify manager if unable to attend.
6. Abide by the rules of netball as set down by the V.N.A. & G&DFNL competition.
7. Show respect to officials and team members and opposition at all times.
8. Never argue with an umpire, discuss your concerns with the coach, who may then instruct your Captain to approach the umpire during an interval or after the match.
UMPIRE
1. Must have a current V.N.A. membership card.
2. The umpire must be a current accredited badged umpire.
3. Be umpiring in the G&DFNL competition.
4. The Executive Committee is to officially invite and select the umpire appropriate to the grade required.
5. The Executive Committee is to notify the umpire of the appointment.
6. Umpire must be prepared to wear the official G&DFNL competition umpires t/shirt during competitions.
7. Be paid an allowance as decided by the Executive Committee of the G&DFNL competition.
8. Notify the Netball Administrator of travel arrangements.
9. Attend training only when requested by the Coach.
10. Abide by the rules/codes as set down by V.N.A. and G&DFNL competition rules.
