The Lexton Plains FL was created in 1999, when the then Lexton FL and the Western Plains FL merged.

The founding clubs were: Avoca, Carngham-Linton, Dunolly, Illabarook, Landsborough, Lexton, Marnoo,Natte Bealiba, Navarre, Rokewood-Corindhap, Skipton.

The Lexton FL was created in 1945 and existed until 1998. The Western Plains FL was created in 1920 (its precursor was the Lismore District FA) and it also existed until the completion of the 1998 season when the 2 leagues merged.

The Lexton Plains is a district league located in central Victoria, and it runs from Rokewood and Skipton in the south to Navarre and Natte Bealiba in the north, running adjacent to world renowned Pyrenees Ranges.

The Lexton Plains FLNA conducts Senior, Reserve, Under 17, Under 14 and Under 12 Football competitions and Senior, Reserve, Under 17, Under 14 and Under 12 Netball competitions. The LPFLNA has over 850 Footballers and 400 Netballers participating each weekend during the season.

The Clubs currently affiliated with the Lexton Plains Football League & Netball Association are Ararat Eagles, Carngham Linton, Illabarook, Lexton, Natte Bealiba, Navarre, Rokewood Corindhap & Skipton.

Season 2008 marked the 10th year of the Lexton Plains FLNA in which the League participated in a full Interleague campaign that showcased its talent and strength at Coleraine at Senior level and Linton and Sebastopol at Junior level. The future of the League looks promising in both Football and Netball with the Senior and U/19 Football sides being defeated by less that a kick against strong opposition while the Junior Netballers won both their games. The Junior Footballers have been groomed by an extensive Interleague campaign in what will shape the future of the League and may produce the next Tim Notting or Darren Jolly.

Natte Bealiba's Stephen Ross was the 2008 Peter Smith Memorial Medal winner capping off a brilliant season in which he was also awarded Interleague representation, VCFL Country Championship representation for Victoria and The Courier player of the year award.

Outgoing Rokewood Corindhap coach James McNamee won his third straight Tanya Daniels-The Good Guys Goal Kicking award with 77 goals for the Grasshoppers. An impressive debut season for Lexton's Lauren Atkinson saw her claim the Lyn Bibby Medal for Senior Netball Best & Fairest.

It was a good year for the Carngham Linton FNC who claimed their third straight Senior Football Premiership along with a superb Senior Netball Premiership and the Ray Fisher Memorial Club Championship award.
