Again in parallel with football players, umpires aspire to be selected to participate in higher level games. Interleague matches, VCFL Interleague and Representative Level Championships, and finals are all important to umpiring.
Each year the BFUA select their best performers of the season to Umpire the Ballarat FL Grand Finals, BFL Junior Grand Finals, Central Highlands FL Grand Finals, Lexton Plains FL Grand Finals and the Maryborough
Castlemaine DFL Grand Finals.
Umpires selected for these premier days of each season enjoy the thrill of umpiring in front of huge crowds on 'showcase' days and the thrill and memory of the occasions are long remembered.
